*** Music On at Amnesia ***

this was rambo´d! couldnt see anywhere near the dj booth but didnt matter , great tunes and atmosphere!

La Plage offers one of the coolest line-ups of the summer, and on the beach: Marco Carola of course, but also Fritz Kalbrenner, Groove Armada, Nick Warren and many more (at the weekly Get No Sleep parties on Friday). This really is Ibiza ;)

This really is Ibiza

I know..... but since Ushuaia left this location La Plage has attracted a real good crowd, and not a bunch of hangers on and spectators. More so this season it feels more like what Ushuaia was in 2009 when it was at this location - intimate - and then Luciano catapulted it to road-block carnage.... and well the rest is history....

La Plage is fab in fact better than the old Ushuaia because the dj booth has moved there is more room. Also I like the fact that they give out wristbands earlier on in the day which prevents hoards of ppl wandering in from Ushuaia at 11pm on the more popular nights and ruining it for those whose intentions only were la Plage. There's definitely room for everyone even though ibiza is changing I'd like to think that places like la plage and the many other beach clubs in pdb will thrive by continuing to provide us with these excellent free parties as many people want to avoid the larger clubs.

Indeed it was a mainly European crowd, really nice to party with the locals, Italians and Germans in Playa d'en Bossa. It had a different atmosphere to a lot of parties, far more uplifting, friendly and most importantly... all about the music!

Best beach bar in PdB in my opinion, Cocoon afters last year was amazing, hoping for more of the same :)

17th August - mini review

OK - it's been a wee while coming as I have barely been able to keep up with my minimum commitments between a rather intense series of trips to the isle this Season.

Sorry to say that my 1st foray back to Amnesia for many years courtesy of Music On, three parties ago now on 17th August, was an unmitigated bore-fest :(. So bad was the experience in fact that I have been holding out for something more positive to say about Amnesia before putting this up (see Cocoon to follow).

Carola, Capriati and Maetrik all managed to kill the enthusiasm of a first night out on the island kindled by an amazing 'Get No Sleep' party at La Plage :p, which had me in super-high spirits and full of hope for great things within an hour of landing at Ibiza Airport.

It's a long time since I've walked into a big club after 3.00am and not managed to spot a single smiling face :o, felt a totally flat atmosphere :x against the backdrop of some of the most dance-killing techno I've heard since Capriati played Fabric  and had to elbow my way through so many strutting coke-aggro twats assembled in one place .

I suppose being positioned underneath the sultry black leather-clad dancers with their minges fully out on the Terrace podiums might have offered some distraction from the appaling musical programming , but for 20Euros a vodka-redbull I could have bought a real whore a drink in a brothel, and had a damned good shag for less than it cost to drown out my disappointment in sufficient alcohol to stick it out in that place for 2 and a half hours.

These guys managed to make Amnesia feel like a giant crack whore :(, about as seedy as any tacky brothel but without the promise of a f*ck at the end of it, save for that afforded by an astronomic bar bill, a good 5Euros a drink more than Space.

I was also unable to keep my shirt on the heat was so intense even in the main room - something which only happens in extreme conditions these days :?. Maybe the 40 degree celcius daytime temperatures were abnormal, but the effect on the club conditions at night was not for the feint-hearted. Though several people did feint from heat exhaustion and were carried out of the club that night 8O.

Thankfully Amnesia was more than redeemed last Monday ... but this rather unfortunate experience very nearly resulted in my 'binning' any prospect of returning for another few years. Absolutely awful :evil::evil::evil::evil:.

I'm coming out very strong on this one - when I feel atmospheres like that, cannot be silenced I'm afraid !! If you went, please do tell me .. if that is a 'scene' you really rate then where else do you really rate - so I can steer it a very very wide berth ;)

pity you had such a bad night:(..although cant say im surprised...marco carola bores me to tears...i just dont understand why the guy is so popular...the worst kind of techno he plays.

i'd have though maetrik would've been passable though?

i just dont understand why the guy is so popular...the worst kind of techno he plays.
for me his music is a kind of absolute physical dance music.
it makes me move at the limit of my powers ) and it`s quite a good fealing...
Fat bass line through the whole track ) and long hole at the every track ) i like it !!!

I was thinking of adding Musicon to my Ibiza 2013 Calender, although I don't really like Amnesia..... But this night was supposed to be a main night last year.... Still waiting on what Space do on Friday.

But this night was supposed to be a main night last year....

It was an amazing night and got better and better as the season went on. Obviously it is mainly ALL about Marco as much as the other artists are good too. i.e.only go if you love his style of music. Personally I love it, but couldn't do it every week.

Thanks Mr Why.... After trying out this night at that over 2 years I'm going with an even more open mind that the last few years.... My nights will be Enter, Carl Cox, DC10 Circo Loco and Luciano Fridays in Space (if this happens) and Music On. I have tried most of the others and I feel most happy without even trying at those nights.... I might even replace Ushuaia for warm ups in my hotel and Bora Bora. I have moved on with That crowd. Never Say Never was ok last year but nothing I can't wait for that night.

I think I clubbed to much the last two years almost every night and its time to enjoy Ibiza over the weekends a bit more low key. That's the idea anyway.

PS: I do like Marco's style I.E more European lol
