Mountain Biking

Think i tried to start a thread on this a while back. Anyone on here into their bikes? I used to be a LONG time ago, ie. before I started hanging around parks drinking cider

Anyway, after seeing someones photos on another forum of a trip they had up the West Highland Way, it got me thinking about getting a bike again. Then i discovered www.cyclescheme.co.uk

Basically, you get a bike tax free, you dont pay tax and you pay it up over 12 months salary sacrifice before tax and NI comes off your wages.

Went and ordered this badboy...

Info gubbins here

Well looking forward to getting it. Since I was a kid the internet has arrived as well, meaning I have more access to trail info etc. And to cap it off my best mate who i've not really been seeing much of due to my hectic partying, decided he was getting a different bike on the same scheme so i'll have someone to go away with at the weekends too!

We have the same scheme. I am the proud owner of a specialised hard rock pro (07 edition, not the cheaper de-speced 08 edition may i add)

Cant wait to get it our properly, currently its good for trips to sainsburys!

Im hoping mines comes in time for Christmas, if it does we are gonna take them out in Perthshire somewhere on Boxing Day.

Gonna cycle to work as well, 3 days a week. Money saved on buses will pay for the bike after 12 months. Dundee is built along the side of the River Tay, so for me its a fairly pleasant riverside route right to the front door of my office bypassing the main roads. Pleasant if the weathers fine anyway.

I love biking!

Its kind of hard when riding through the city when the roads haven't been cleared properly, but if I put on a face mask and my ski goggles, its no problem riding throughout the winter... just need to add on the layers.

I share between running and mountain biking, cross training you might say. I'm very lucky where I live in the countryside of the North-East. There is an old railway line converted to a Sustrans cycle track right outside my front door...... and there are 3 others within a 2 mile radius. Was just out yesterday, well wrapped up, clocked up 10 miles on the cycle tracks with my mate.

I have a Trek 850 XC, its about 10 years old but still in excellent nick.
