Ministry 15 Years Party Goes With A Bang!!
11 September 2006
This weekend saw 2 days of clubbing that will no doubt go down in Dance floor legend, as the club celebrated Ministry of Sound’s 15th Birthday with Soul Heaven on the Friday and the 15th Birthday party on Saturday.
The balloons were throbbing to the ear splitting bass and the ticker tape well and truly pounded into those famous dance floors as the celebrations got under way on Saturday night with a full capacity club heaving to the pulse of a 15 year old mammoth in Dance heritage.
Calling on 7 of their residents old and new, including CJ Mackintosh, Marc Hughes, Jazzy M, Mark Knight, Steve Angello and Justin Berkman (co-founder of Ministry of Sound), the club out on a night of music celebrating a decade and a half of musical excellence.
With an awesome set from Danny Rampling –who came out of retirement to play the box for one night only – the club was thrown back to its roots, with freaks and queens of old dusting off their platforms and fish nets, as tracks that were broken and immortalised got a much missed airing as the temperature soared once again to hedonistic proportions.
The atmosphere was electric as the Blue Man Group finished their awe-inspiring visual and musical display and Mr Rampling climbed the steps to the decks and lay down his first club classic.
The crowd was sent back to the glory days as classic tracks from the dawning days of house ripped through the world famous sound system and clubbers raised their hands in the air to welcome back a Ministry of Sound legend.
After an inspiring set ranging from the 90’s to present day, Mark Knight and Steve Angello went back to back to keep up the pace Rampling had set as the bar pulsated to eclectic sets from MARC Hughes and Justin Berkman and Julian Jonah valiantly upheld the baby box.
Part 2 of the tribute to the 15 years of Dance floor history will be forthcoming this week –so keep your eyes peeled for interviews with Pete Tong, Paul Oakenfold, Jazzy M, Seamus Haji and CJ Mackintosh reliving their time at Ministry and some of the best tracks ever to grace the 1210’s…
Here’s to you and to another 15 years!
