more tawdry meeja stories

"Some girls at our hotel slept with the door open and woke up to find their handbags gone," said Jean Vonsy,"

woah, thats shocking.

i wouldn't say it was any less safer in ibiza, but i have noticed a lot more stories about people having things pinched. still, sleeping with your door open is asking for trouble no matter where you are in the world. i think if people exercise a bit of caution (possible even in the messiest states) then they'd be a bit less open to be victims of theft.

scout out your room, look for places to hide things people wouldn't normally look. dont take ridiculous amounts of cash on holiday with you, and have a backup credit card or debit card in case things do go walking (obviously kept in seperate places). dont walk about flashing your ipod and smart phone. unfortunately i was too drunk to remember if my phone got lost or stolen, but i was stupid enough to have it out with me, so nobody to blame but myself which was the worst part.

but as stephen pointed out, the same can apply to anywhere. just cause your on holiday, don't let your guard down.

the house next to me is rented to holidaymakers and i see people arriving with phones, i-pods, laptops and probably wads of cash. i then see them going out at night leaving the patio doors wide open!!! i doubt if they'd do that in hamburg or rotterdam. it's the old 'nothing can happen to me on holiday' sindrome!

Well, why didn´t you tell me! I just paid 800 euros for a laptop from a legit shop. El Steve the fence could have been in business!
