Moped Hire

Im sure this has been covered elsewhere on the forum but couldn't seem to find it...

Basically want to rent a moped for a day or two to get around the island, currently i only hold a provisional license...can i still rent out a moped or do i need a full license?

Definately don't want to go down an illegal route on this one though, not worth the hassle!

I think that with the provisional one you can rent a moped, but only the 50cc ones. I am NOT SURE though.

I know on the moto luis t&c's it says you need a license for 2 years for a 50cc. not sure if that was the same policy throughout san an rental offices or not

In 2012 and 13 My friends who had only provisionals rented 50cc mopeds. One of them crashed his and actually got away with it.

I was actually thinking about trying to rent one on my provisional in Formentera last year but figured I wouldn't be able to (didn't actually check). How easy is it to pick up how to use one of these?

you mean how to drive one? super easy. if you can ride a bike, you can drive a scooter. just go easy on it at the start. the two most important things for scooter driving in ibiza and formentera are those two points:
- your driving is only 50% of the job - your eyes have to be everywhere so you can monitor the traffic around you
- slow down before turns. roads are always dusty here and I've seen too many people thinking the road will have a nice grip...and swooooosh...
