This is not another "how much spending money will i need" thread

I have never been abroad before, i get paid the day we fly to ibiza, how much money shall i get changed before i go? is there places in ibiza with a good exchange rate? any advice would be wicked.

Cheers.

I got £500 changed before I went and withdrew £200 worth of euros over there.

I got a better exchange rate from the cash machine!

there are hundreds of spending money threads. depends how you spend your money out there. id recomment taking £100 per day, but for instance in september im only gonna have about £350 max for a week but i reckon i'll be fine (drinkin rosé wine and relying on free parties and guestlists ) and NO TAXIS (well, within reason :))

Hi lucy, i did it vice versa - 200 euros out to see me through the first day of so & then used machines out there.

I dont think using the case machines out there is outrageously expensive to be honest, I just did this & tended to take 150 euros out at a time.

no doubt there are ways of doing it cheaper, but the convenience made it worth while. I would just avoid shops etc that tend to do it as experience in other countries tells me these are the poorest value. have a good un.

Lucy what ever you do dont get your money changed at the Airport.
They charge a fortune.

To be honest, id jus do what the rest tend to do - that is use your card...

If you have time you could open a Nationwide Flex Account. It's just a
regular current account. You can withdraw money abroad with no charges or fees at all.

I have one and I just use it for holidays. Also you can check online to see how much you have in it when you are away.

Rather than start a new thread..

I'm planning on using my HSBC debit card in Ibiza, as I've got an account with them that's free to use abroad. I always use it, but normally I check first to make sure I can. Proving slightly difficult this time. Obviously there'll be hell on if I arrived and can't get any wedge!

So, just to make sure, can you use 'Maestro' cards in the machines over there, and are there a few about?
