sorry i know its boring, but does it work out cheaper to use cash machines or is it better to take travelers cheques

I normally take travellers chqs but will be taking debit card this year as it is far cheaper and if anything happens I will just transfer all funds into my missus account. Can't see there being any probs though.

If you do this it is prob worth taking some foreign currency with you for the beginning!

You get ripped off taking travellers cheques, use a bank card.

I was advised on here to use Nationwide and have been in and opened an account. There offering accounts with NO charges abroad.

Let's hope the exchange rate is at a peak when were away.

I think the exchange rate could get worse because alot of people buy Euros in the Summer so they become more expensive, however it does depend on a lot of other economic factors as well.
Ive used cash machines and made card purchases abroad with Barclays (In Madrid) and I havent been charged so im takin few travellers cheques and withdrawing from machines.

Oh yeah forgot to add, its only Visa an I think mastercard you can use. My friend had Switch and it wasnt accepted for card purchases, not sure about withdrawls though.
