Ola, thought i'd share a few thoughts about my first trip to ibiza:) Me (32) and my bro were there for 5 days and stayed in sal rossa apartments, pdb. would really recommend them if you want somewhere chilled/relaxed in pdb. no crazy parties at night/early am, right on the beach with pool etc., clean, tidy, sound staff.

Monday
: We took a quick taxi from the airport into playa den bossa and dropped off at our accomodation, Sal Rossa apartments located on the beach, just beside the jet complex. Absolutely brilliant location. Our check in time was 2pm and we were a few hours early (arrived 11am) but the receptionist said our room was ready for us and we got our keys, result! Left our stuff in the apartment (which was clean and tidy) and headed off for a few beers and to familiarise ourselves with the area.

A few beers turned into many and we decided to head back to get showered and changed for that night. We started walking towards Ibiza town and called into a local bar and we bumped into 2 really sound guys from liverpool - There was a bit of banter exchanged as they were 2 scousers and we support united, they were heading off to DC10 but we decided to give it miss and stuck to our original plan of taking it easy that night.

Walked further to ibiza town searching for a tapas place we had read about on trip advisor - home loos and it didnt disappoint! bumped into the owner on the promenade and he directed us in with a great table at the front to do some people watching. The guy is an absolute legend, 6ft + dutch guy with long blonde hair, worth going for his craic alone! Anyone know him??? The food (tapas) was super and reasonably priced, the hake pi-pi is an absolute gem of a dish!

Headed back to PDB around 11 and we were pretty steaming at this stage, went to murphys for the united/liverpool match and text the 2 liverpool lads from earlier in the day and they came to meet us....the rum, shots and other gear was flowing so i cant remember much about the match and the rest of the night, the liverpool lads convinced us we had to do DC10 and couldnt miss it so they gave us their wristbands and we bounced in a taxi about 2.30am and blazed into DC10 like we owned the place. Music and crowd was great although i was a bit mangled, is the main room with the dj booth in the corner!?! couldnt tell you who/what was playing but I was certainly enjoying it! Think we made it back to PDB and our apartments about 6.30am or so....

great first day and night and pushed the boat out a little further than expected!!

TBC

Home loos is worth the walk from pdb.Great place and Michele what a legend.that hake is super.

Tuesday: Rolled out of bed around 11am and considering the amount of booze etc the night before I was feeling in pretty good shape! Nothing an espresso and croissant wouldnt sort out:) Looking forward to and feeling up for Space and Carl Cox later thank god!

Chilled out on the beach at our apartments for a few hours listening to the beat coming from bora bora and jet before deciding to take a walk down to sands beach bar to see what it was like. Tom Novy was playing some nice tuneage and then some girl sang a few songs and the atmosphere was nice and chilled out but the surroundings etc just weren't for me. I wouldnt say it was pretentious or anything but just not what was needed for 2 guys at 3pm in the afternoon. Had a bite to eat when we were there and it was nice, but just not what we were after - Would be better suited to bringing the wife to for an afternoon for food and wine etc....

Had a rake of beers and stuff in the apartment that night and listened to some tunes to get us in the mood then out for a few beers before cox and space. called into tantra and it tbh was average at best, bar service was pretty poor, they just didnt seem interested and there wasnt much of an atmosphere in the place. Talked a bit of dung to a couple of shot girls and then headed off to space about 12 i think and what a night it was to be!!,

checked out a few of the rooms when we arrived to try and find bearings - somehow missing the terrace and yousef which was apparently great. music in the main room was good so bounced down to the front left where there was plenty of room and bumped into a mate from home who i didnt know was there. hadnt seen him in years since our clubbing days in shine so there were plenty of sweaty hugs and high fives thrown about to everyone and anyone in our vicinity that would take one:!. Ended up visiting the bar for rum and coke far too many times, think it was 36EU for 2 rum and coke, absolute madness but what the hell, we we're loving it!

Big Carl came on and the atmosphere was notched up! Think i first seen him in belfast about 1999/2000 in shine and its mental the amount of energy he brings to his sets after all this time, 50 years old and still going strong! proper party atmosphere and he was pulling bangers/tunes out of his ass all night - (might also have had something to do with them gold barrrrsss we had got our hands on lol!!) - great stuff all round, think we stayed front left for most of the night, few more rum and coke, checked out a few rooms again but main room was great so kept going back to bust moves. Decided to call it quits sometime after 8am and it was still going strong!! the big man was in his element but we thought it best to call it a day and enjoy what we had witnessed. Only on leaving and walking back to the apartments in the morning sunshine do you realise how wasted you are (and looking back on some photos the next day lol)

Left my mate in PDB looking for a party and we headed back for some beers and bed. Never seen him the rest of the holiday, hope he made it back to his girl at some point in figuretes, hes possibly still mincing about on the beach in pdb melting peoples heads :) -

Great night with the big man delivering the goods like santa! - 10/10 #OhYesOhYes

Wednesday: got up around 12 and feeling ok, those gold barrrrrss were so good. We had pre-booked a boat from san an bay area for the afternoon so given how we had got on the night before, we took our time and headed over around 2pm after a croissant and espresso in PDB.

Called into surf house in san an for a beer and a nosey at the wave/surf machine and it looks like great fun tbh, would defo have tried it if we had more time, looked like people were really enjoying it and seemed to get plenty of time on it. would defo give it a go sometime. Some nice chilled out reggae was playing and its a cool setup.

Went off to pick up our boat grabbing some beers and ice on the way, took the boat up the coast to a few coves and beaches, mixing amongst the rcih and famous millionaires yachts then headed back towards mambo/del mar to watch the famous sunset and then dropped the boat back just after 9pm.

Stopped off for food along the promenade in san an somehwere, cant remember the name unfortunately, looked good from the outside but food and service was pretty terrible. Didnt check out the west end and went back to pdb around 11pm, showered and changed decided to go out for a couple of drinks only and have an earlyish night. called into dunes in pdb and the craic, fun, music, staff especially were absolute top drawer. 2 planned drinks turned into about 6 beers, plenty of captain morgan, and a number of shots of petron cafe on the house. This place is a must visit if your in pdb, the banter and craic with the bartenders was great from start to finish, best bar we stopped into without doubt - 10/10......of course this meant we were staggering out at 5am (with a currywurst on chips in hand). top spot.

Yeah I always recommend Home Loos if looking for simple food in that area! They have dogs too! (not to eat)

The guy is an absolute legend, 6ft + dutch guy with long blonde hair, worth going for his craic alone! Anyone know him??? The food (tapas) was super and reasonably priced, the hake pi-pi is an absolute gem of a dish!

Is he an ex-Rugby player by any chance?

That he is.All he talks about if you show any interest..

You're not wrong. I was in his restaurant in 2006, and he was talking about it to us. I'm pretty sure there was a scrapbook with newspaper cuttings out on the table at one point! Nice guy, might head back there in a few weeks.

Finishing off the trip/review from our last night:

Thursday: Last full day/night in ibiza and feeling the effects of the days before!! Spent most of the day chilling at the beach and pool drinking cold beers and trying to decide what to do that night. Had been to space on the tuesday for cox so we didnt really want to go back so soon even though it was hawtin and a couple of mates said it was the best night on the island.

Half decided that we would give sankeys a go to see if it compared to the original in manchester that I had really fond memories of but tbh I still wasnt convinced.... it was our last night so didnt want to be let down, called back to dunes to ask our trusted bartenders opinions on what it was like but they didnt really know....space or sankeys?? hawtin or some french guys??? at the bar in dunes we got speaking to some american guy who had been staying at ushaia and it sounded like he had a holiday/trip from the hangover, i'll leave it up to your own imagination (lucky lucky bastard!). He was with a couple of spanish girls and the 2 girls were heading to space and they talked us into it...f*** it, i knew what to expect from hawtin and co and knew it would be a great night!

Bumped into a girl from belfast with her boyfriend and we talked them both into space and hawtin, couple more shots and across the road we went about 1am. it was absolutely rammed, you could just about move across the dancefloor to the other side, i was fine but the girl we met was feeling a bit melted by it , maneuvered up to the trusted front left corner and it was similarly busy so we decided to try elsewhere. (the music was great in the mainroom but it was just too packed). beyer (i think) was playing in another room but i wasnt enjoying the music so we went into the terrace? and hito (japenese dj) was setting the mood to perfection and at the perfect time - the gold bars had just kicked in oooommmmpphhh !! and i think she knew it;), stayed there until the end of her set and it was absolutely great, think she finished the set with finder/ninetoes - will defo be looking out for her in the future.

down to the main room and see hawtin do his thing, think it was about 6am and it wasnt just as rammed at this stage and the techno was pretty good but he wasnt absolutely killing it.... stayed til just after 730am and decided to call it a day.....walked out into the morning sunshine and went for a stroll down the beach watching the sun come up. back to the aprtment and sat and had a few beers etc then crashed out around 930am, we had to check out at 12 but slept through to about 1pm and nobody from housekeeping had came near us!!! result:), flight home wasnt until 6 that night so was able to get my head back together on the beach for a few hours.

overall we had an absolutely fantastic time and i cant wait to return. One of the spanish girls we met on the last night was saying that carola at music on was unmissable so I'll defo be making arrangements to hit that next time fo sho! my only disappointment??? is that I didnt come years ago.....
