Mobile help

Hey all,
I asked a similar question last year regarding my Canadian, but now I'm in a different situation. I live in the UK now and have a mobile here but am wanting to get a spanish number/SIM card when I get to the island. Is there anything I have to do in order to get it to work (ie. unlock my phone)??

if your phone is a locked network provided one, u gotta unlock it....i suggest buying a cheap phone or using an old one, and I'm sure u can find pre Paid sim cards on the island..I'm a first timer and I actually had that same question...if anyone can help that would be great
 
yes you need to unlock it. €15 is the going rate at the moroccan run locutorios.
 
If your phone is a Nokia you should be able to get the unlock codes on the internet for a couple of quid, I have done this loads of times. There are independant phone shops all over the place in the UK who will unlock phones in a few seconds for a fee of up to £10. If you live in London there are probably more phone shops in Oxford Street than there are clothes shops - no mean feat! :lol:
 
at a phone shop. you can't miss them, they have loads of phones in the window!

note. there are as many phone shops in ibiza as opticians and ladies' underwear stores.

Get a cheap mobile from an Ibiza phone shop. I live in Spain you can get a prepaid phone if you lose it no big deal and you have your other phone as a back up. I have lost my phone on the isle and it sucked.

Thanks for the help. I'd rather just unlock this phone and use it and switch SIM cards rather than have 2 different phones out on the island. Hoping I can find a place in Cardiff to do it. By the way, where is the "moroccan run locutorios"?

buy a cheap phone when you get here , about €35 with €10 credit on it, thats vodaphone (which work in my O2 without unlocking ?) movistar may be even cheaper, chances are you will lose it anyway and dont forget your plug adapter if you bring yours! :)

ps be aware of some of the ebay etc offers offering lots of "free credit" most are mail in offer`s when you read the small print,

so it shouldn't be a problem finding a cellphone store with a cheap prepaid/disposable phone in ibiza town?

you can get it unlocked in a phone shop called Fast Fones in Queen St,Cardiff.

i got a sim card with credit on from Barcelona airport with telstar in december on route to ibiza. Just go to any phone shop in Ibiza and youll get one.

where in Cardiff you from?
 
Yeah, I actually found that today before I saw your post but thanks! 10 quid to unlock my D900 too!!! Will be getting a SIM once I get out to Ibiza for sure. Thanks for all the help!

I live in Penylan right now, but will be moving right into Cathays next year.
