Hey,

I am coming out to Ibiza for the whole of September and I am looking at getting a local sim that includes 1GB of data. I have an iPhone 5 so it will need to be a Nano Sim. Does anyone know where I get find a reasonably priced sim?

I was looking at http://llamayamovil.com/internet who offer 1GB of data for 1 month for 9euro! Is this true? If so I will try and get one of those sim cards and add-on the internet when I get there. However is I am missing something please let me know as I can read spanish!!

Thanks,
Dan

Hello

I don't have an iphone, however I do know what you are talking about.

Nano sims are a bit cheaper, you can probably get it for cheaper. However that price is competitive.

Once you have the sim, it is all about the plan.
Some plans charge fifteen centimos per minute for small recharges. The more you put in there the less it costs. So I am looking at eight cents per minute. For extra ten euro.
Usually if you put thirty or more it seems that you get data. Pepephone and telefonoica seem to have very affordable rates.
30 eurod plus sim activation will cover you for a month , usually 500mbs of data (half a gig) not much, but a lot of talk and text.

That is what I have found out and I have called around.

Also don't forget that some phones need to be unlocked.
And you need I'd for any carrier.

I need a macro-regular sim, do you know places? For nano ones for iphones I think there is a lot of distributors because iphone is popular. I don't think you need it unlocked however, but I need mine.

Hope this helps aand if anyone has a good reliable store let me know.

If I get a prepaid SIM with data plan in Ibiza, once I leave Ibiza, I will be in Germany, Czech, Austria and Hungary. Will the data still work when I am in those countries?

Depends if you have a plan that covers it, I went with a simple plan and it ended up costing me a lot more...

Spanish providers usually charge cheap if calling anywhere to any spanish sim. But it is expensive to do int calling.
I would look into it more if I were you.

I am with movistar and while their service is good, it is quite expensive.
Their data transfer for sending files off your phone is blazing fast and never a prob with connection. Always on!

hi

checked movistar is by telefonica .

I have found this comparison

Spanish Pay as you Go Quick Comparison

Movistar - 19 cents per minute
Orange - 17.5 cents per minute
Vodafone - 22 cents per minute
Yoigo - 16.5 cents per minute
Hits Mobile - 7 cents per minute

I there full coverage of free wifi on the whole island ?

Only on cafes that you go and pay for! The hot spots are very very rare!
Not like we are in sylicon valley and everything is legit wireless and free.
For movistar is actually 8 cents a minute!
If you put 10 euros or more at the begining of your contract, basically movistar is good for pay as you go - talk!! Only!!
Data is so expensive with them and limited.
You need to make a contract and they do give you more.

But yea free wifi?? Pffft forget about it , maybe only in your hostel!
Or at a cafe.

Ps.
Obviously remember that this is from the perspective of a tourist , we get hit hard!
Obviously there are decent deals out there with everything included. More internet, cheaper calling, roaming , etc .

But for tourist usually is way more expensive
