After two successful releases at the hands of DJ Hyper, Meat Katie has been handed the baton for the next instalment in the Bedrock Breaks compilation series on John Digweed's Bedrock label. Meat Katie aka Mark Pembers is considered a true ambassador of the breakbeat sound amongst lovers of the sound the world over and this seems a fine choice as the latest addition to the Bedrock empire..
Meat Katie has been playing breakbeat since long before it was considered hot - often mixing it some 4/4 (tech)house. He is also known for his own record label 'The Whole 9 Yards' and has been co-running one of breakbeat's finest nights, HUM, for two years alongside breaks don Rennie Pilgrem. As if that wasn't enough, he is about to launch a new imprint going by the name of 'Lot 49'.
Meat Katie's new compilation, scheduled for release in May, consists of many exclusive tracks and unreleased mixes such as the Sean Cusick remix of Aphasia's 'Acapulco' and a Dylan Rhymes remix of Meat Katie's and Christian J's new track 'Turn me out'.
An album launch party will be held on Saturday 27th March at HUM in London. Meat Katie will be joined behind the decks by Rennie Pilgrem, Will Saul, Elite Soul and the Future Funk Squad, while the upstairs room will be rocked by the Urban Gorilla DJ's and special guest D Ramirez.
