FRIDAY 2ND JULY - GILES SMITH - SECRETSUNDAZE
11pm - 3am
The Roadhouse, Manchester
It gives us great pleasure to welcome one of the resident DJ and co-promoters of like minded London based clubbing institution Secretsundaze to the hallowed Content turntables - Giles Smith.
Giles fell in love with house and techno in the 90s and began collecting records from the age of 15, before moving to London and beginning his career as a DJ in earnest in 2000.
After holding down a residency at Junior Boys Own's seminal Faith night, Giles (alongside co-founder James Priestley) started up the Secretsundaze night after becoming inspired by daytime outdoor parties in Ibiza.
Secretsundaze became synonymous with their uncompromising music policy - focussed on the finest underground house and techno, they were often responsible for breaking new artists such as Guido Schneider, Matthias Tanzmann and Rhadoo or being amongst the first to book others such as Steve Bug, Luciano and Ricardo Villalobos.
Having built a reputation for putting on the most colourful and hedonistic parties in London and hosting the cream of global DJing talent, Secretsundaze have found themselves being asked to host arenas at festivals all over the world from The Garden to Sonar and playing at some of the best clubs in Europe, from Fabric to Panorama Bar, from The Rex to The Undergound.
Such an impressive DJing CV only comes when you have unquestionable talent on the decks and Giles is no exception. His style is based heavily in raw, warm, deep and hypnotic house and techno, but above all, Giles shows an ear for unearthing hidden gems old and new and his sets are noted for their strong programming and integrity.
The next step for Giles was production and he began this in 2006 and has since released as Two Armadillos (alongside production partner Martin Dawson) on some of the most respected and forward thinking labels out there such as Dessous, Tsuba, Sthlmaudio and Buzzin Fly.
Residents on the night will be Lee Daley (FraidSo, Robsoul) and Dan FraidSo (FraidSo, Robsoul)
£6 ADV / £8 OTD / £7 NUS
