So this if my review from last night. My wife and I went to see MAZI in Dallas, Texas at a club called One. If you get a chance to see Mazi, do it!

Wow, finally woke up after a long night. My body aches from dancing for the most part of the night. I got to the club pretty early, around 10:30. I got to see a good portion of Honeydew & Henri J. They were warming the place up nicely and there were a few people on the dance floor by 11 (A good sign). By the time JV & Lati Domi came on the place was filling up quite nicely. Club One is a big club and it's hard to fill it but there was a decent size crowd, most of which congregated over by the bar like a cattle herd at a feeding trough (Do cows use troughs? Anyway, you get the idea). JV & Lati Domi threw down some killer beats. After listening to about 30 minutes of their set my feet insisted on getting to the dance floor, I had sat long enough. From then till about 1+AM JV & Lati used all kinds of measures to persuade my body to get down, and groove, and move, to the sound. Most of these measures were pretty sick to say the least. I particularly liked the last 30 minutes of their set, it really set the mood for what Mazi had to offer. By 1AM some of the cattle herd had migrated all the way to the edge of the dancefloor, some were even close enough to see the DJ in the DJ booth. Mazi came on a little after 1AM and started with some tech-house on the funkier side of things. He moved on to more of an elecro-acid house with some subtle and some not so subtle hints of tribal, funk, and tech throughout the night. I wanted to take many of those basslines home with me but my wife insisted on leaving them...some basslines are only meant to be heard on gynormous sound systems, the kind that makes your nose hair tingle. I was locked into a great groove for his entire set. I really dug the Marshall Jefferson Mushrooms overlay towards the end...a nice touch IMO. He finished the set off with some great tracks that had almost everyone left dancing without a care in the world. The last few tracks sucked away every bit of energy I had left. At this point (3AM) JV & Lati were up in the DJ booth with mischievous looks on their faces. I stuck around for confirmation of my gut feeling and I was right. They were going to play another relentless tag team set. My mind said yes but my body was not succumbing to the temptation of sick tracks for the next hour. My wife could tell by the look on my face I was struggling with this decision. My feet were in pretty bad shape and she was reaching that point too so we made the decision to call it a night.

Shame I left town just a few days too early.

I went to One on a Sat night when I was in Dallas and the place was completely empty!

never been to One but some friends hit Dallas couple yrs back and really enjoyed it. Glad you had a good time. Need to chk out The Metro in New Orleans on Sat. nights..very nice. It closes at 4am and everyone goes to Ampers And till 8am.

The Metro is definitely top notch.
