Manumission

yesterday was the first Manumission!! How was it??

If they very strong rumours this morning, plus eyewitness accounts are to believed - chaos and not of the fun kind. I drove back to San An from Ibiza Town about 4ish and saw police searching lots of cars. This morning numerous people were saying they couldn´t get in and that Privelege told Manaumission yesterday afternoon that they would only allow 4,000 people, as opposed to the usual 10,000 for Manu, in the venue. Rumours abound that the whole thing is about money, as ever. Manu´s switch to Friday was apparently an attempt to take 100% of the door money under last years Friday night Ibiza Rocks contract. Again this may be pure rumour, perhaps even made up by competitors, but some are claiming the fire exits were padlocked so people couldn´t let their mates in...

Unconfirmed tales of crushes outside and a girl I know was desperate to get away she flagged passing car down an offered the driver everything she had in her purse, €75, to get her home to San An!

Again alledgedly, Privelege´s staff confiscated all the food and drink brought in for the performers and told to buy from the bar!

Having said all that, another friend who was there said she none of this and walked straight in, admittedly at 5ish.

The truth? Well, Spotlight´s very own Dr Mick was there to report on the opening, so watch the Club News and Reviews section for the real story soon...... (No pressure Michael;) )

that sounds horrible !! im going away soon and was planning to visit manu but think im going to have 2nd thoughts

"Manumission chaos" update

Speaking to Spotlight yesterday, Andy McKay for Manumission played down the scenes of chaos outside Privilege last Friday, comparing their difficulties to that of Space and Pacha who have in the past also turned away custom.

He described the padlocking of the doors by representatives of Privilege management as "absolutely disgusting". McKay said the Manumission security team broke the locks and showed evidence of the situation to the police.

Manumission insist the ticketing situation will be resolved by the second installment of the Love Diaries this Friday (July 28).

Dont go its a sham!!

I am very very agry about the waste of time and moey i spent and didnt even get in at all!! i felt nausious and claustrophobic and totally disgusted with the organisation of it all...they basically sold too many tickets because they are GREEDY!!! ive still got my un used ticket and may tru for a refund...dont fancy my chances tho....anybody had a refund yet???

RAAAA im still annoyed

Just like to say something else...its all well and good saying itll be okay next week...but what about us who have missed out last week...! i am going to tell as many people as possible that its not worth it im sure ill get through to some people especially girls who dont like crowds and being trappled on left right and centre but smelly guys....!! no offence guys but stale beer is not nice especially when quite rightly so everyone is angry! i am not a violent person but i felt myself built up with rage Friday night!

anyway enough from me!!

Hi Smiley,

:D

Your anger is understandable, however Privilege was not at capacity. Manumission would have dearly loved to admit all those with tickets but were prevented from doing so.

As with internet tickets, Spotlight understands unused tickets bought in Ibiza will be refunded in full at the point of sale.

If you are unable to do so mail info@manumission.com

Am I alone when I say I went to this and thought it was amazing?? Apart from it being murder to get home was worth every penny!

The rumours are deffinately true!! We tryed to leave just after 4 coz we hada plane to catch and it was an absolute nightmare trying to get out. They only had one set of doors for people to come in and out of!! So you can imagine...part of the show had just finished and so hundreds of poeple chose to leave at the same time, and there were still hundreds of people tryna get in. One girl in fromt of us was havin a propa panic attack...was scary! Ended up havin to climb over a wall to get out!!

Enough to make me think twicw before i decide to go bk there!!

Will they allow 10000 people in the coming weeks? Manumission is great at full capacity.
Disco wars are so dirty...

Manumission chaos

It was definitely chaos in there on Friday night. We were watching from the dome and there was a huge crush of people at about 4am trying to get in and out of the club. Eventually loads of people rammed the fire exits next to the main entrance - we saw well over 100 people get in free - fair play! It was a wicked night though - definitely worth the queues and the nightmare journey home.

We took this pic of the stampede through the fire doors:

Another reason why I love spotlight - Nice one! :D

the health and safety officer where i work would have a heart attack seeing that picture

seriously though, hope it's sorted before i get there...i've only fond memories of manumission and don't want it tainted.

It's always a drama where the mish are involved isn't it? IMO there is the potential for this to happen ANY night in Ibiza as tickets rarely have dates on them, so if there is somebody particularly popular on any number of people could turn up. Maybe this is what has happened here? The hype surrounding Manumission is big enough to begin with and since it seems to be starting later every year is it any surprise that big numbers turn up for the opening party? Obviously I wasn't there, so it's just a theory.

i totally agree. we are booked to go over the week of the closing party, its the highlight of our trip and it would be awful if we couldnt get in. when i go clubbin im not too bothered about gettin out of a club i could happily stay in there all night/morning, but gettin in is important. Can someone update me of the craic with gettin in since this problem?????
