Mambana is the combination of two very different personalities united by music.
Isabel Fructuoso (of Afro Medusa, Afro Angel etc) the Spanish singer and songwriter with the wandering spirit full of Latin flavour and influences, and Axwell (DJ and producer/ mixer: Jetlag, Usher, Stonebridge, Room 5, Soulsearcher etc) the young Swedish producer with the expertise and wizardry in production.

They mix the Latin attitude and the Scandinavian efficiency. The looseness of the Spanish blood and the balance of the Swedish mind; the heat and the snow, heart and brain, passion and focus, ying and yang.

Axwell gives Isabel the centre, whilst Isabel gives Axwell the fire, and it is this putting together of two extremes which produces a very balanced cocktail.

Every Spring Isabel travels from wherever she might be on her travels in the world (Brazil, Columbia, Mozambique… always its different) to cold Stockholm where she meets up with Axwell and a new Mambana groove is born.

First was “No Reason” in 2002, “Libre” in 2003, and new for 2004 is “Felicidad” celebrating the summer vibes. Another fusion of Axwell’s production escapades and Isabel’s long travels and writing experiences.

Doesn't really do it for me tbh - too similar to loads of other summery latino tracks. I'll see if they can do anything better with the dub but I don't think its a patch on Libre.

Can't listen at work, i'll have a go at home tonight.

No Reason is one of my favourite tracks of all time, probably cos it rocked Pacha Funky Room first time i heard it :P

True, it does sound quite typical of the genre and a bit like pasilda but i think its the production which gives it the slight edge. This will sound tight on a good system.

I still think 'gabrielle rene - spirit' is the best forthcoming track on soulfuric. BT said there's some wicked remixes on the way so i hope they make it a bit more uptempo.
