Hello Chezzy,

thankyou for your kind word's and yes ofcourse i'll be sending in a review of my time spent on Ibiza, as no-doubt it has changed over the year's since my last visit back in '86???

My trip to Ibiza will take upto 48hrs approx, as i'll be arriving there by lorry, train & boat.

Day 1 6h30: Taken by lorry from the UK to Paris, i have to be at Paris Austerlitz train station for 21H56 for a night train taking me too Cerbere, i will be arriving in Cerbere approx 8H10 the following morning.

Day 2 : I'll have a full morning in Cerbere before catching a train from Cerbere to Port Bou at 14H25 with the trip taking just 10mins too arrive in Spain. On arriving at Port Bou i'll have another 2 hrs too wait before catching another train at 16h18 Port Bou - Barcelona, arriving in Barcelona Sants at 18H46. On arriving in Barcelona i then have too get to the port for 20H00 for checking in too take the ferry (Transmed) which leaves Barcelona at 21H30 arriving in Ibiza at 8H00 approx on Day 3.

The trip alone should be quite an adventure & i'm already thinking about what type of character's i'm like'ly too meet on the way:D , my wife & kid's + everyone who know's me, think i'm mad as they feel it would be easier just to hop on a plane. I thought about taking the plane but then i also thought "hey, i'm not in any hurry too arrive in Ibiza so why don't i take the scenic route with a short visit to two of europe's most beautiful cities en route".

The train & ferry booking's were both purchased via the internet so if anything goes wrong i'll only have myself to blame:lol: or:cry:, the cost of the train down to Cerbere is 150 euro's return with 114 euro's for the ferry (booked through directferries). It would've been much more but i have a long distance lorry driver friend who has arranged for myself to be picked up & dropped off near Paris.

As for the ferry, well i imagine it'll be like taking a short cruise in the med & i'm also hoping that the bar stay's open for a blindmanskunk party special.

So as you can see Chezzy, i'm already looking forward to having a good time before i've even arrived in Ibiza :D , as afterall what make's a holiday memorable can also be the travelling time it take's too get their.

I'm sure you'll have a great time in Mallorca & i look forward to reading your review of the island, & yes it's true!! Your comment concerning why there's no Majorca forum, especially as there's a Lloret de Mar or Benidorm forum somewhere about's????

Todos y dia de fiesta feliz de la aclamacion demasiado:D

This time next week l'll be lost in some local bar somewhere on Ibiza

it sounds like a brilliant way to get to ibiza. So how long will you actually be on the island. We fly out on the 10th so it will probably be about the same time,i know we will have a great time but its still not Ibiza !!Its not that long until march when we are going to do our first winter ibiza cant wait.Have a brill time and leave some alcohol for when we get there !!!!

I'll be staying on the island for 12 day's 3rd - 15th sept which is probably an ideal amount of time for a small island. I'm not much of a beach person unless i find a secluded one, as i like also too spend some time exploring inland (not everyone's cup of tea), away from the tourist trap's. I feel i should already know too much about Ibiza having spent my holiday's there from the 70's to '86, so this visit will be to see just how much of the island has changed etc, over the course of time.

I can relate to today's younger generation as too why they keep going back to Ibiza every year, as when i was in my 20's (long time ago) the island gave myself the same magical experience though for differnt reason's. A holiday on Ibiza back then was a very relaxed and laid back affair, almost at snail's pace + (until in the mid 80's the 18/30's crowd arrived) the local's had time for welcoming there new summer invader's. It's unfortunate that today's young crowd seem to only remember one thing on the island which is? Ibiza's famous club's or the west end of San Antonio, hence why they keep returning.

Sorry if i sound like an old fuddy duddy as i'm not one for critizing what one get's upto when on holiday, but i wonder just how many of today's younger 18/25 crowd will be returning to the island when they to, are in the prime of there life & they are grand-parent's? Had today's Ibiza, been around during my day i'm not sure if i would be returning on the 1st sept? Who know's it could be my last, should i find that the island has lost so much of it's charm!! I'll have too wait & see?

dia de fiesta feliz

dave
