Did the obligatory trip to the cliff-tops looking over Es Vedra when I was out in September. It had been cloudy and raining that day, but as we drove from Santa Eularia to that side of the island, it brightened up. As we got to the cliffs, there was that beautiful sky with dramatic clouds and sharp beams of sunlight coming through.
But in the distance was what looked like mountains - land. I told my friend it couldn't possibly be, it must be clouds. But sure enough, it was.
The below photo is a zoomed in crop with the levels exaggerated to show what I mean, but that's mainland Spain.
I've never seen this before in photos of Es Vedra, nor when I've been to that same spot myself. Doing a quick check on Google Maps, the closest land is the Cap de la Nau near Xabia, some 55 miles away. The mountains to the far left are the Serra Galada next to Benidorm, some 75 miles away. Not 100% sure, but I think the mountains behind Valencia are just visible on the far right, over 100 miles away.
Never seen this before as I say, and a pretty spectacular sight.
