The Portuguese police have been inept from the start, this is a huge high profile case with the attention of the worlds press. The pressure is on to get a result and they have no leads, no ideas and no clue who did it.
From all the witness statements that I have read I fail to see how either of the McCanns could have killed her, disposed of the body and then casually gone back to dinner with all their friends as if nothing had happened!! That just beggars belief!

And then, 25 days later (under intense media scrutiny) they nip back to the hotel/scene of the crime and remove a body (badly decomposed which would stink to high heaven) and dump it elsewhere!

Rubbish!

the concept that the Portugese police have been inept is a theory put forward by a xenophobic UK press

given the number of high profile judicial errors that the UK system has made, you would think that they would show a more balanced view

this is a police force that has also requested and been granted full cooperation with the UK police and in fact, the lastest "evidence" has risen from UK investigative teams

You are saying all the UK press have an unreasonable fear or hatred of all foreigners??

The fact they are using UK police resources is because they do not have the skill(s) and resources themselves.

A major crime scene -

The apartment was searched this weekend even through it had been "released" as a crime scene by Portuguese authorities on June 11, cleaned and rented out to other families.

The villa that Madeline was abducted from (or worse) has been cleaned approxiamtely 12 times since her disapperance. I'm no Columbo but that in my book constitutes negligence or at the very least a level of ineptitude.

Only when the English police came in were these 'discoveries' even made.

The Portuguese police are simply not equipped to deal with a case like this - as has been witnessed. Nothing to do with a Xenophobic UK press at all.
