Mac Versus PC

I currently have a PC but it is on its last legs and desperatley needs upgraded. I don't know hwether to get another PC or a Mac. I am planning to start making music but still need it to do all the basic computing functions ie internet, word etc. As I don't know much about the differences I was wondering if someone out there could enlighten me with the relevant dis/advantages of both?

Macs are really good for all the Multimedia type stuff , but if you dont know much about computers and want to be able to do all the usual stuff I would go for a PC - especially due to compatibility issues.

Both of em can do the same things really. If you wanna get into music then macs seem the best choice at first because they are more powerful in some respects. However, there's no doubt the PC can be used to make music at a professional level so dont let that stop u. I dont have much experience with macs but years with pc's. I'm pretty happy with mine and i produce music on it too so no quarrels there. Its gunna take you years to learn music so by the time you're getting to a good standard then it will be time to upgrade again anyway. You could just go for the easy pc option and then reconsider changing platform the next time around :)

Wrong. I've been pc user for ages and recently moved all my files into a mac and are 100% compatible. And I have no problem to do the usual stuff.
I never had to reboot the new Mac Os X and for hardware, I think you have much more quality for a bit of extra money.

Think different

I dont think comin was referring to compatibilty between the two platforms. Rather the availablity of software for mac?
