I'm sure we've all seen this film, saw it on channel 4 a couple of years ago when my spanish was very ropey.

It was TVE (channel 822 on sky) a few weeks ago and i recorded it and only got to watch it last night.

MADRE MIA!!

The spanish unedited version is so much better and the subtitles on the english version only seem to try and translate the untranslatable.

Paz Vega closely follows Formentera as the star of the show!!

What does everyone else think???

It's a top film, a top story, top actors (Paz Vega is great, but what about Najwa Nimri?) and a top scenario :D :D

Julio Medem is a great filmaker, his photography is always excelent, stories are weird and touchfull and he usually works with great actors :D

silvia,

when it was on TVE, i can't remember the name of the programme but Julio Medem, Paz Vega and Tristan Ulloa were all on it and before and after the showing of the film. They were discussing it.

I'm sure it must be a regular programme on TVE, it was great for my spanish.

what i love about the film is that you can never quite work out what is real and what is a dream or a part of lorenzo's novel. like all good films there are lots of unanswered questions.

najwa nimri is powerful in the film, sin embargo pienso que belén es la más guapa

I think you are talking about Versión Española.

Belén Anaya is really sexy and beautiful, but I have a thing for Najwa, you'll never see her in a crap film. :D

BTW, feel free to post in the spanish forum ;)

claro que sí,

Versión Española was the name of it.

i'm keen to post en el foro español, as i'm always looking to keep up to date with the latest news en eivissa.

And also find out as much information about education and schools in ibiza. we plan to move permanently to ibiza in 2008.

BTW, my two children are called - Isla and Sol (guess the connection). además, if Sol had been a girl, we would have called the baby Luna!!

Is Sol a boy? 8O

Sol it's actually a girl's name. And one of my best friends is called Lluna (Luna in catalan) ;)

yes Sol is a boy.

is it a girls name like a short form of Marisol.

We are both aware that when we live in ibiza, we will appear like hippies, what with having children called: Island and Sun!!

To complicate things, I have a very uncommon Irish surname, "O'Halloran". There can't be many with that surname in spain as there sin't even that many in england.

To Sol (tiene 5 meses), I quite often sing that song from Lucia y el sexo "un rayo de sol a mi corazón".

Que mono es!

Marisol is a short form of María del Sol (you also have María del Pino, María del Mar, María de la Salut and lots of María de).

Nowadays, lots of kids have hippy names, my nieces are called Duna (dune) and Mel (honey)

Jaja! That song was a summer anthem many years ago :D

silvia,

what about isla. do you know anyone called that??

i think its good that they will have unusual names.
