I am not quite ready to quit my 9 to 5 (If only I did work those hours) as my experiences with music over the past 12-18 months or so have been radically different.
A few recent threads on here have made me think about my relationship with dance music.
There is so much new stuff out there at the moment that I am not really listening to any of it. I am constantly listening to old school mixes, compliations etc to get my fix.
I used to find it so easy before the likes of MP3/Internet/downloads. I would read DJ Mag, Mixmag, Update, 7 Mag etc to point me in the right direction. Pop along to Eastern Bloc, HottWax or Vinyl Exchange and fill my record bag. If Tongy played it, that was another pointer, also the likes of Tim Lennox and David Dunne on Kiss (RIP), but now I go on the internet radio and there are hunrdreds of broadcasts. Stuff now is either just too underground or too Pop with no in between. I have tried Beatport, but just get the impression that they rely on dudes just like me to feed their families (ie get ripped off).
I generally like what I like, any genre really, but particularly Tech House and Deep House. Anyone else feeling like this?
