Looky Looky's

Excuse my innocence but I keep reading throughout this forum about looky looky's as I've never been to Ibiza before or anywhere abroad on holiday:oops: I'm wondering why are those guys called this?

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I always thought it was because they ask you to take a look at the crappy sunglasses or other various items they have for sale.

cos as you walk past, they say "looky looky" although it was better back in the day actually.

the glory years were late 90s i think.

some of the delboy impressions were immense.

it started off they'd called you delboy, then it wasn't long before rodney became a common shout.

the peak was when i heard a guy perfect "MAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRLLLLLLLEEEEEEEENEEEEEEEE" in pure boycey.

:):)

all they sell is rubbish any way.fake copy dvds.cds sunglasses.hats.dolls..watches.anything they think they can sell. asda price.they are sometimes a pain.but some are ok if you just say no.worse ones are the so called deaf people who drop a card and lighter on your table.

i just throw it off.sorry i cannot stand them.its best when you shout f.....f.they soon walk away.con trick really.

eh delboy, delboy, rodneee (then they clock your scottish) ehh jimmee, jimmee

u-wansomeboie?? uwansomeboy?

some weechallypeels?

I can remember one approached me at 4am with a box of babies' bibs and rattles - wtf?! Then I realised it was what he had hidden underneath them that was on offer...

'Lovely Jubbly' is still a favourite to this day!

There were hardly any about this year. Mate of mine who would not have minded a bit of decent hash, nail in the head at bed time etc was not approached once:evil:

ehhhhhhh chicken nugget is what got shouted to me and my mates last year...strange but funny always. But yeah as everyone says, avoid unless your in the market for sunglasses of course!

They always try to sell me sunglasses whilst I'm wearing sunglasses, you need to be one hell of a salesman to pull that off...

You never see them on Formentera. Maybe they can't afford the ferry!

Actually, have any Formenteraphiles ever seen any beach-sellers?

An old friend of mind once bought a Cartier watch knowing it'd be fake (for impressing the girls) for about 1000pts from one of these guys back around mid '86 whilst we were on Cala Martina beach. Turned out his watch was still working & as far as i'm still aware it's still working today. Mind you he he/we were all suspicious about the watch thus when he got home he took the watch to be examined by a watchmaker & thus told it's a real Cartier encrusted with diamonds and gold. He was offered back then about £3000 but kept the watch, i wonder what's it's value would be worth today.

Nb: The logic of my post is that not all you see being sold by these beach guys might be fake but actually items they pickpocket from unsuspecting tourists:twisted: before selling them on the cheap.

What a load of s**t.
Did you buy some "stolen valuables"?
Did you see them pickpocketing?

Might be a load of s**t to you so was you their when he was buying the watch? Thought not..

Get your facts right:twisted: for i never said I bought stolen valuables:evil:

Personally no i didn't see them pickpocketing (did i post i did?:? NO) but Ibiza during that early 80's period (also Italy,Portugal,Mainland Spain etc) was rife with pickpockets so i'm just assuming that the watch sold to my friend was a stolen one. Okay probably not by the guy who sold it but if not where did he the beach seller get it from?

At the end of the day it doesn't alter anything because the guy bought a watch from a African beach seller which eventually turned out to be a damn sight more valuable than the 1000pts he paid for it.

NB: Just shows your reply to my post is flawed with accusations concerning myself.
