Going to London for just one night this sunday.

Looking for a fab restaurant, where they serve you excellent food and the service is good. Oh, and if the place looks nice it will be a bonus!

Any suggestions?

What kind of food are you after Nancy??

www.toptable.co.uk is really good for restaurant reviews and bookings.

Some of my fave restaurants are:

Sheekys (sister restaurant to The Ivy but nicer imo and specialises in fish)
The Wolsley (part of the same group that own The Ivy and Sheekys)
Babylon Rooftop Gardens (fantatic views over London)
San Lorenzo (lovely Italian restaurant in Knightsbridge)
Zilli Fish (Aldo Zilli's fish restaurant in Soho)
Langans (Michael Caine's place, very traditional English place)

I like just about any food...

Spunkymonkey: been to Hakassan last year and REALLY liked the place. Food and service were excellent.

Going to check out the site mentioned. Thanks!

If you've got a bit of cash try:

Crazy bear - thai -amazing
Hakaasan - Chinese (trust me no ordinary chinese)
finos- best tapas in town

But I love Bodean's best hang over BBQ grub ever!!

I',m hungry now! :)

Yauatcha is owned by the same guy who owns Hakkasan.....Alan Yau.

Its a cheaper version of Hakkasan though and they do Dim Sum. I like it a lot.

Thank you all for your suggestions!

I've just made a reservation at Yauatcha!
Was very impressed with Hakkasan. Really like dim sum and the fact that it's not as expensive is also a good thing (saves me some cash so I can spend more in ibiza 8) )

I'll let you know how it was!

Any tips for a traditional meal?

thankss :D

For proper good old traditional English food my fave is Langans Brasserie, their fish, chips and mushy peas are to die for :D

You'll prob find London restaurants expensive compared to what you're used to in Spain but if you fancy treating yourself to really good traditional food and a really old-school dining experience then I'd def recommend it http://www.langansrestaurants.co.uk/ You can see example of menu on that link.

There's also some examples here of really good 'British' restaurants http://www.toptable.co.uk/search_results.cfm?bftid=1&page=1

One I particularly like is the Butlers Wharf Chop House, I'm not a big fan of Conran restaurants but this one is really good and lovely setting on the Thames.

Also the most traditional of restaurants is The Ivy, it's not as expensive as you might think but you'd probably be pushed for getting a table for December even now. Tom had to book table there for my b/day 3 months in advance. It's a lot easier to get a table for lunch there esp at the wkend which is really nice.

That's what I always think when you're on holiday you want to spoil yourself ;)

Book early with any of the popular London restaurants cos we don't embrace the manana manana lifestyle. If you did fancy lunch @ The Ivy they actually do a fixed 3 course menu for under £30 per head which is a good option if you want to experience the restaurant without the a la carte option.

babs, is bablylon rooftop thingey just near Leicester Square?? I was at a work raceday the otherday and we got talking about restaurants and I was singing the praises of the oxo tower and a client said that there was this really nice rooftop restuarant nr leicester square, he didnt remember the name but said it was either near or in the old "home" nightclub?? :?

Rooftop Gardens is in Kensington, the one he will have been on about is the one that was in Home, it was called Five or Seven :? (cos it was on the 5th or 7th floor or something like that), it was really nice with views all over London, I didn't realise it was still open since Home closed. They used to similar thing to Pacha in Ibiza where you could eat in restaurant and then go down into club for free.

I got yer, cheers for that, I dunno if it is still open by the way? ahving said that he did say he went recently ;)

We went soon after Home got closed, it would be a shame if it had closed but I didn't know how exconomically viable it would be to keep it open without club :?
