Shiva - New Years Eve Party
Friday 31st December 2010
9pm-5am @ The White House

The clocks. The frocks. The sparkles. The glitter. The anticipation. The liberation. The countdown. The I-just-wanna-get-down. The midnight moment. The midnight kiss. The music. The dancing. The smiling. The young. The old. The gathering. The reunion. The feeling. The Shiva New Year's Eve Special. Two rooms. House. Electro. Classics. Funk. Disco. 80's Groove. Let's do it all again.

It's been a busy old year for Shiva this year, what have you got cooked up for 2011?

_______________________________________

Next year we've got a few things in the pipeline that we're excited about! As well as our residency at The Whitehouse, we'll be involved with Lock N Load Events at Brixton Academy. The notable one being the EP/IC concert with Eric Prydz. Eric will be putting on a spectacular 3D live show and we'll be hosting one of the rooms! News is just starting to leak out as we speak but keep Saturday April 2nd 2011 in your diaries free. We'll be offering discounted tickets to the Shiva faithful. We'll also be involved with Ibizan Heat in June next year; having our Shiva residents play at Ibiza's most notorious clubs. More to follow....

You've been spinning for quite some time now, what's been your best DJ gig?

_______________________________________

I'd say it's between the Cream opening party at Amnesia and We Love Space at, errr, Space - both in Ibiza!! Also playing at Get Loaded In The Park (SW4 Festival) is right up there. It's really hard to choose my favourite from those three!!

What's the weirdest thing that's happened to you in a club?

_______________________________________

Now, I've never claimed to be a world famous DJ, so was very surprised when I had a random clubber at Amnesia stop me when I was carrying my record box. He insisted of having a photo of me with him. At first I thought he was taking the piss but thought I'd give him the benefit of doubt, so I chucked my arm around him to pose for a photo - the look on his face was almost bursting with excitement and he looked so chuffed!! I was amused but wondered if actually he'd mistaken me for Erick Morllio....(!)

Shiva used to be ALL about house sounds but recently you've also included 80's Groove and Disco at some nights. Why's that?

_______________________________________

Although Shiva is known for uplifting house, on special occasions I like to throw in 80's Groove and Disco on the top floor. Not the cheesy stuff you'd hear on a night out in Burnley(!) but cool, well-known ones that get everybody in the mood for dancing. So for New Year's Eve, we're doing it again! There's nothing worse then hearing a house tune 3 or 4 times on the same night in different rooms - so I like to give our crowd a good variety of genres. It caters for everyone. Shiva's house, however, will be as strong-as-ever downstairs - so our followers need not worry! Our 80's Groove/Disco room has proved popular at both our Halloween parties so why change a winning formula? It's also a perfect compromise for groups that are divided over music. So, a perfect solution! Or should that be resolution(!) Ha!!

On that note, what tunes can we expect you to drop on NYE?

_______________________________________

That all depends on the people in front of me! Let's say I'll have more than enough in my box to cater for all needs! I intend to play the biggest club tunes from this year but also going as far back to 2000. But it all depends on what the people in front of me want. Axwell/Swedish House Mafia will definitely be on my playlist, but I'm also swinging by to play upstairs in the 80's Groove room, so who knows what I'll pull out the bag there?!

What have been your best Shiva parties to date?

_______________________________________

OK I can't say my best but have to name a couple... Our launch and last party at Canvas. Then a toss up between last New Year's Eve at The Whitehouse and definitely the Shiva Bus at Get Loaded last summer.

The Panda's been a bit quiet of late. Is he dead?

_______________________________________

Our Panda mascot is very lazy these days, but I've given him a code of conduct and threatened to take away his Facebook fan page and bamboo shoots, if he doesn't show up!! The last Shiva Party he ended up with two black eyes after leading two ladies astray, so he has been hibernating since then! I think he may be joining us for New Year's Eve though.
