Ibiza seems to be full of lizard and I have a holy mission to take a lot of pictures of those little bastads. What is the best place to find lizards. Or they might be geckos but anyhow. Does the apple slice work? Does it lure them out?

Or better still, a bottle-top full of beer! Did that last year and had one staggering all over my hand! I love them, and Ibiza/Formentera wouldn't be the same without 'em.

Apparantly, neither island has poisonous snakes...or any snakes for that matter. Can anyone confirm this, or is it just an urban myth? I have read that the only poisonous animals/vegetation on Ibiza are the jettyfish. True?

I remmember reading years ago in the Irish book of Kells that anywhere the Milisians settled it would be free of poisonous snakes. While Mil Espane was in Egypt his Son was bit in the neck by a serpent. Moses cured him and propheticaly said where ever his decendents settled there would be no venomous snakes. Later Mil was booted from Egypt along with Moses and the now mixed Hamito-Semites. he made his way across the coast of Africa and setteled his people in the Balearics for some time before moving to Spain and Finally ending in Ireland.

Somebody should tell the Lookies to stop selling Asps out of their pockets.

I can confirm (I just LOVE getting an opp for my 1 story) that snakes do at least exist on the Balearic Islands - notablly Cala D'or Majorca where one bit my ankle when I was on my way out the back of the local disco with a young lady.

'tis true. No venomous creatures on the island. 8)

the ladder snake is a native to menorca though it's claimed that some have been spotted in the san rafael area. neither poisonous nor beligerent, the snakes were immediately killed by the local man who saw them.........

There are 4 species of snake on the island now according to an article I read a while ago. Brought over in shipments of olive trees.

Here it is: http://ibiza-blog.com/2008/12/02/the-end-of-an-era-for-ibizas-sacred-soil/

Maybe they've eradicated them by now. Anyway, none of them were poisonous.
Fscinating! Thanks for the link.
Must look out for them, glad they're not poisonous but I expect they can give a nasty nip, but more of a worry that if there are enough of them they could dessimate our lovely lizards

We get fookin humungous snakes here on the mainland (60km's away), I'm not sure of the breed, though I do know theyre not poisonous, just very large (I found a skin outside my house a few weeks back measuring just over 1 metre).
