According to a scientific study by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics (website here: www.iffhs.de or more in Monday's Times newspaper), Liverpool are currently the best club side in the world.

Italian side Inter Milan are second, followed by Bayern Munich and AC Milan.

Other notable English teams on the list are Man Utd in fifth, Arsenal in eighth and Chelsea in 12th.

The rankings are taken from performances over the last 12 months, assigning weighted points for wins in various competitions.

So, Liverpool are the best, now proven by scientific study and FACT.

Here's another very scientific study conducted on teams in the English Premiership involving 220 to 280 players and 20 team managers on a weekly basis. I picked it up off the BBC website:

1 Chelsea 12 21 31
2 Wigan 11 8 25
3 Man Utd 11 5 21
4 Arsenal 11 8 20
5 Tottenham 11 6 20
6 Man City 12 4 20
7 Bolton 11 2 20
8 Charlton 11 2 19
9 West Ham 11 5 18
10 Newcastle 12 2 18
11 Blackburn 12 0 17
12 Liverpool 10 1 16
13 Middlesbrough 12 -1 15
14 Fulham 12 -4 12
15 Portsmouth 12 -4 10
16 Everton 11 -8 10
17 Aston Villa 12 -11 9
18 West Brom 12 -13 8
19 Birmingham 12 -10 6
20 Sunderland 12 -13 5

Bit touchy today sir? :P ;)

Have to say my liking for Mourinho's been damaged by his petulance over the slight downturn in Chelsea's performance.

Really cant stand Chelsea. the club has no soul and a $hit history. Money is one thing, but soul is another.

When comparing Chelsea to the great clubs of the world, it will become apparent just how far from greatness they are, both in terms of trophies and conduct.

Well as the first study i showed above proves the Premiership doesn't really count for a lot on the world stage does it

All that effort and money winning the League last year and Chelsea can only crawl to 12th best in the world!

I don't actually mind Chelsea as a club even with the whole mega money thing, it's just their twat of a manager who i can't stand  Only club i really dislike is Man U, can't believe the Blues let the Manc scum beat them

Boring

Well, yes, boring too, but I think that comes under the "having no soul" umbrella.

Remember what I said the other day? Not far off, was I?

"Cos I'm free..... free falling..."

Well, obviously I was referring to Marts' statement and not the team... but you knew that, didn't you prior to that vein attempt at humor.

If the team were so boring, you lot wouldn't spend so much more time talking about them (and hassling me) than extolling the virtues of whatever teams you support  (N8 exempted)

Awaiting your witty response. Say something like "glory hunter" or expound on the soul-killing dangers of too much money and talent for any one team. Oh, while you're at it, let's harp on this 2-loss blip for a bit and sound the death knoll for the season.

I won't be posting in this thread further. Slag away.

Cool. As long as you don't sulk and throw a strop, eh?

;)

C'mon morbyd, football's all about the banter :!:

Whats the point in football if we cant slag each other? whats the point in winning if we cant get it right up opposing fans??

Anyway, good luck to chelsea trying to win the european cup, the trophy they want so badly. Cant c it though.

If Chelsea fans really want to get their hands on the european cup they could visit the trophy rooms of Celtic, Liverpool, Man U and Notts Forest if they wanted

Can't believe we are having this exact same argument again.

You know as well as I do that Chelsea are a much better team than Liverpool, and that the league doesn't lie. I would say the Premier League (being one of the main leagues in the world) does have a lot to do with the World Stage.

The best teams win leagues. Plain and simple. Cup Teams win often by luck.

If there was a world league. Chelsea would be up there challenging, along with the likes of Madrid, Barca, Milan, Juve and Man United. Liverpool are no where near that calibre, and everyone knows it!

Dundee United would prob be up there too!!! :D
