Live Hip Hop/Rapping

Wu-Tang clang at Glastonbury - crap.

Tinie Tempah? Sounded weak, I thought.

Does any of this stuff work live? (Miles apart obviously but joined by 'not singing' I guess)

Not really a massive hip-hop fan. the closest I've been to hip-hop live is Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip. Would quite like to see Roots Manuva at some point...

There lost on the main stages at festival. All they seem to is run from one side to another.Saw black eye peas at a festival few year ago in ireland and it was really bad..And there back to headline same festival this year..

Hip hop live outside has been pants for the most part in my experience. The indoor arena are a bit better. Too much studio production me thinks

A lot of hip/hop material is over produced and can make weak voices seem strong. I guess the festival performances expose these weaknesses in a brutal fashion.

I saw Guru with a live band years ago and it was amazing. I think live hip hop is better in a smaller venue.

Lots of the old school were great live, LL Cool J, Public Enemy (at the Bestival this year? - wonder if they've still got it?) - not that i had the pleasure myself but watched lots of old gig footage.

Some you see nowadays - BEP and 50 Cent are just terrible live, embarrasing really.

Not a big hip hop/rap fan at all but I was in a small club in NYC once with a live band and a guy freestyling (with a lady jazz singer backing him up) and it was delightful.

I've only seen the Roots on TV (live from an outdoor event, no less) and that's one killer live band as far as I can tell.

The Roots are great very talented group.went to see mos def and he was really good and great band too.

the problem with any live performance on the telly is that the sound is bobbins compared to the actual venue itself.

Also seen The Streets a couple of times. Not quite hip hop, but bloody good fun live, even as the albums got worse.

I enjoyed Public Enemy live a couple of years ago despite them all being ancient (also enjoyed them in the 80's when they were a little more in their prime)
