I got a Dave Clarke cd (World Service) basically because i had gotten a tape of him playing live in Dublin last year.

The music that is played on both is pretty similar but the tape is much better imho because of the crowd reaction on the live recording.

Does anybody else agree that live recordings like this sound better? is there other cd's around that this kind of crowd reaction?

Dont know about a CD, but go grab his essential mix from 2 weeks ago... it's downloadable somewhere (soulseek?) :D

I've got his Essential Mix on soulseek! PM me your name and I'll add you to my list.

World Service is possibly the best mix CD imo, and there is such a great contrast between the two cds that I never tire of them.

Sorry mate, in response to your question-horses for course, I guess.

I often find live mixes to be a poorer quality and the crowd can sometimes be a bit off-putting, however two of Laurent Garnier's 'live' sets on his Excess Baggage set, live in Detroit and live in Sonar are incredible as you get all the emotion of a live set, but because it was issued officially, they've clearly tweaked about with it so that it's a good quality.

i think live cds are soo much better than recorded in a studio cd - just something about hearing the crowd reaction to track.

You def cant beat a good live recording IMO. The crowd noise and reactions in the background, the MC bits, sampling by the DJ etc, all really add to a mix. Sometimes the mixing isnt as sharp because its live and not a computerised studio recording, but the roughness around the edges just adds to the whole live recording feel for me.
