My review starts on the 30th of June even though I didn't get to Ibiza until the 3rd July. I played footy on the Wednesday before and my mate broke his leg, that's another story but it caused me and Mrs Hook to have the biggest row we've had in ages. I normally back down in these situations just to keep the peace but she was so far out of order, I just couldn't this time.
Anyway, the bottom line is she didn't end up coming. I went with my mate instead and we had a brilliant time, although I would have preferred to have gone with Tra.
Sat 3rd July.
Arrived at our hotel, the Garbi in PDB. For anyone wondering where to stay, there can't be many hotels better value for money on the island. Free Air con, very clean rooms, excellent pool area and a superb location (just down the beach from Bora Bora).
We dumped our stuff and headed to Bora Bora where it was going right off. First time I'd been and I couldn't believe how good it was. After a couple of hours we went back to get changed and headed for Ibiza town. Nipped to see your friend and mine, Dominic which set us up nicely
Hed Kandi was our night and I absolutely loved it. Never been to El Divino and heard a few bad reports but I have to say it was right up my street. More intimate and a brilliant atmosphere. Good night all round.
Sun 4th
This was all about Space. We arrived about 2 and it was by no means full. But I was straight into it. My mate wasn't and he just sat drinking Vodka and cokes while I danced the afternoon away. At 5 I was feeling a bit worse for wear so we headed over to Bora Bora and crashed on one of the beds. An American guy came over with a joint about the size of my leg so I gave him a hand with it and talked complete bollox for half an hour before we headed back to the hotel. Showered and changed and back to Space. The terrace for the rest of the night was my best experiance I've had in Ibiza. The atmosphere, the people, the music. Superb.
The terrace finished and my mate says he's going - wrecked. Said laters and headed in to listen to Diggers. It dawned on me that I was a complete dribbling cabbage by this point so I headed upstairs to that new bit and chilled. Got talking to a lovely girl and ended up sitting up there with her for the rest of the night. I didn't really want to take it any further though as throughout the day, the nasty texts from Mrs Hook had subsided and the apologies and honesty about how she knows she was wrong had come through. In 13 years of being together, she had never said those sort of things so rather than going home and moving out, I had started to think we might stay together after all.
I said my goodbyes to Linsey, telling her I was going to Mambo for the sunset later that day and I walked along the beach back to the hotel. As I got back the sun was coming up and I realised I'd never seen a sunrise in Ibiza before so I sat down and waited. Next thing I know, it's 9 o'clock and people are all around me getting ready to sunbathe. Gutted I'd missed the sunrise and looking to everyone like a drugged up lout, I headed back to the room.
Mon 5th.
Got up, Bora Bora. Class again. We had planned to go to DC10 but gave it a miss cos we were going out later. Got ready and taxi'd to San An and Mambo. We were sat in Mambo and in walked Linsey. In my pickled state the night before, I hadn't realised how good looking she was. I knew she was nice but when I saw her at Mambo, she looked unbelievable.
Had a few drinks and I was half tempted to get her number but thought better of it as I'd spoken to Mrs Hook during the day and I couldn't believe the change in her. She'd said she'd had a wake up call and wanted to put all this behind her so I said we'll talk when I get back.
A little bit disappointed to be saying bye bye for good, we left Linsey and her friend and headed to Plastik. Not bad in there for a West End pub. Then it was Bar M and then a taxi to Manumission. We got out the cab and the Civil Guard(?) pulled my mate and searched him. He had 2 pills on him and I thought he was locked up. But, amazingly, they pocketed the pills, booted him up the arse and he was free to go. Be careful kids.
We got in Manu and I couldn't believe how bad it was.
It just would not happen for me, much as I tried. I found a fault everywhere I looked, whether it was the Reebok trainers, the Ben Sherman shirts, the turn-up Chino's or just the distorted sound system, I just wasn't happy. It seemed the place was chocka full of people who'd never been clubbing before in their life.
I couldn't take it any more and my mate wasn't in the best of moods after his run in with the law so we upped and left.
Tues 6th
Got up early and headed to carry on seeing as we had the tickets. This place cheered me up no end. Plenty of real clubbers and the atmosphere was superb. We didn't stay as long as I'd have liked as we had to check out so we dumped our bags and headed to Bora Bora. I love that place and can't wait to get back.
We flew home and I spent the flight wondering what was to become of my marriage. Will I lose my kids? Will I lose my house I've worked so hard for? Will I be able to handle seeing Tra with another bloke? To be honest, my head was in bits.
What's Happened since?
Well, when I got back I went straight to my Mams for some sleep. I got up the next morning and went home to see the kids and maybe talk to Tra. I took the kids to school, came back and we shouted at each other for half an hour then decided we were getting nowhere and started to talk. Neither of us wanted to split but we both agreed the arguing had to stop, for us and the kids. We got somewhere, but I still went to my Mams again that night. The next night (thursday) we went out for a meal and got on brilliantly. We decided to not mess about any more and stop arguing if we could. The next day I asked my Mam if she would have the kids for a few days at the end of the month for us to go back to Ibiza. My mother is the best. She just wants us to be happy.
I booked for us to go back on July 30th for a week (a lot cheaper than going for a few days) staying at Jet and things have been absolutely wonderful since. We are getting on great and there hasn't been a hint of a cross word.
We are just looking forward to being back in Ibiza together.
