Learning Spanish - Recommendation??

We have a bbc language course bought as a present and have been using this for a while and never really thought it was very effective. We have since looked at several language courses on the internet, many seemed much more effective and absorbing. Once we are speaking / understanding half effectively I will get a private tutor for a few hours each week.

Night school is most definitely a no no as we don't have the time / babysitting resources required.

Can anyone suggest a really effective course for learning Spanish that they have used personally?
