HOT SINCE 82 HEADS TO IBIZA WITH A RESIDENCY AT PACHA

Hot Since 82 has been announced as a resident at Pacha Ibiza and will host his own night called Labyrinth.

Taking up a weekly slot on the White Isle, the former Mixmag cover star spoke about the new party concept and how excited he is to get started.

“Working with the legendary club on this new party concept has been a lot of fun and I’m really looking forward to evolving the format from what I do with my label showcases. I can't wait for you to get lost in the Labyrinth with me.”

Following on from a run of Knee Deep in Sound nights last summer, it should come as no surprise that Pacha and Hot Since 82 have come together again.

Pacha said: ”Our relationship with Hot Since 82 started in 2014, we were initially attracted to his sound and talent as a DJ but soon realised his charisma as a performer and host fits perfectly with what we do at Pacha. Labyrinth is a collaboration full of colour, enthusiasm and good vibes. It's the beginning of a long and magical journey together.”

Should be interesting to see if he brings similar talent as those who were staples to the "Insane" parties. Obviously Digweed is totally out with the Resistance announcement. I've seen HS82 a lot, not in the last few years, but a bunch of times in New York and down in Miami at MMW and for me, he is really hit or miss. I've heard a stellar 5 hour set at Output and some really bad festival style 2 hour sets at parties with larger lineups. However, HS82 seems to be a name and brand with 'Knee Deep' that has really grown, so my guess is this sound and party will work at Pacha.

I think it's a good move for both. Pacha on a Friday is the night the British have typically gone (started with Tong years ago) so HS82 ticks that box. While you could get some damn good line ups at Insane (and had a few really good nights 2013/14) it never had a single name above the door to create a 'following'. Even when Digweed was there 2013-15 it was only ever a mini residency. HS82 could be there for years if he manages this right.

I feel similarly. When he first blew-up, I was a big fan. Loved his Little Black Book era. Then I felt he kinda faded out of favour, lost his way a bit. Maybe it was as much my own tastes changing as his sound changing? I dunno. Slowly I am growing to like him more a little. He played a stormer B2B with Nic Fanciulli at the Social last weekend.

I saw him in Sydney last year and he played to the crowd - a very accessible house set full of classics which pandered to the not-very-clued-up kids in attendance.

Then I've caught him at Destino Closing a few years ago when he was on top form.

Liking some of the names that would join him. I kinda feel as well he's kinda dropped off a bit as well...Saw his cafe Mambo set last year and it was okay.

Still i might check it out anyways

I know exactly what you mean by HS82 having dropped off, but the last two times I've seen him in the last 6 months he was on point.

Thoughts? Some bloody good names there. And more Sasha & Digweed! Maybe some Adam & Ida B2Bs too?

very impressive roster for the first season of this party.

I do rate HS82 as far as tech house DJ's go, and based upon the names above I really do think (and hope) this event will be a success this season.
