Hi, I'm going to be in Cologne in September so was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for any good clubs (preferably on a Friday night).

Apologies for writing in english but I've forgotten most of the german I learnt at school:?

what kind of music do you prefer?

If music doesn't matter, I recommend a location called "Teatro" for a friday night. Middle-sized club with 2 areas located on Rudolfplatz. Teatro's friday night is named d2 (dance & drink). Entry is EUR 18,- and drinks are for free incl. all kind of alcohol especially Longdrinks. Music is mixed but basically Hip-Hop, House and Dancefloor music. Audience is rather young, 16-22. http://www.teatro-koeln.de/de/1.html

Try "Diamonds" or "Nachtflug" for finest house music. They're not as cheap as Teatro (no drinks for free) but more stylish, music is better and audience is older, approx. 20-30. Both located at Hohenzollernring. http://www.club-diamonds.de/ and http://www.nachtflug.com/

If audience is still too young for you try a small club named "Ivory". People from 25-40 there but still looking fresh. Expensive drinks but great music. http://www.ivorylounge.de/

My favourite is a location named "Goldfinger". It's neither club nor bar. Free entry, music is amazing, drinks are cheap and people are always willing to have a party. http://www.goldfinger-koeln.de/ Some people call it a student club. They're right because students know how to party!:idea:

First please tell us your favourite music for making party. After that we can specify our recommendations.
There are alternatives to the mentioned for sure... ;)

Thanks for the responses. Well, there's a couple of us who like the Kompakt sound so any good minimal nights (Friday preferably). We're over 30 as well so hopefully not too much of a young crowd.

okay ... to pardy on friday AND to listen minimal might be some difficult. but there are some events, which could be interesting for you.

the resident DJs katharina gerhardt (btw: wife of a very popular german actor) and wollion make some hard progressive tunes - there are often guest DJs too
it´s one of my favourite clubs to go out on friday, so it has been tested...

sometimes there are good partys, but you have to check the website, otherwise it´s possible that you land on a funk/hiphop-party 8O
an other delicious date are the afterhours at lauschgift... they are on sat & sun at 6:00 a.m.

- bogen 2
it´s a more underground location, sometimes there are also good electro partys. for more inforation you have to check the web a view days before
