now i've had time to settle back into life at home (its just not the same), i can try a put a bit about or holiday into words.....
8 of us flew to ibiza on the 27th December for something a little different than normal for new year. i suppose you could say we were the typical summer tourists that stumbled upon the island in the winter (much to the disbelief of the locals i must add ). the few days that we had to spare before hogmanay were spent mostly in our villa which we hired for around 1200 euros. when added to the flights from liverpool to barcelona with easyjet and barcelona to ibiza with iberia worked out about £300 which was not too bad. during the day san antonio was a ghost town until about 5pm when a few shops and supermarkets opened. this didnt bother us as the sun was shining and we could buy food and drink to party in the villa. as the weekend approached things got a little livelier and we found a little bar in the west on the thursday night for a few drinks followed by a trip to pacha. on the friday we retured to pacha again as this was the only place we knew how to get to that was defo open (i was nearly arguing with a taxi driver who told me it was closed!). had two good nights in pacha, different atmosphere to the summer but still excellent. then hogmanay.....we stayed in the villa until around 2am then headed to pacha, some of my friends had never been to ibiza had seen pacha the previous two nights, albeit only a small section of the club was open, were blown away (come to think of it so was i, AGAIN) when they seen it in full swing. the party atmosphere was the same, if not better than the summer and we partied til 8am then headed to DC10. this was my first time in DC10 and i must admit i struggled to cope after the last 4 days drinking, i was taken aback by the club but knew there was more to it i.e the outdoor area which hadnt opened yet. finally around 10am they opened the doors to the outdoor tent and BANG i was awake and as fresh as ever! 12 noon on new years day and i was dancing in the sunshine, things dreams are made of! never lasted the whole day but i can see why the club is so popular and cant wait to return in the summer. the next few days were spent winding down and reflecting on which was undoubtedly the best new year i have ever had.
there is only one place i can see myself being for the bells next year
san antonio becomes a spanish town again in winter. the ghost town effect is achieved by our famous spanish siesta when everything closes for a 4 hour lunch break. the same is true in ibiza town - it's like deadwood gulch between 2 and 5 on weekdays.
change is however on its way as the government now have civil servants on a 9 to 5 work routine to bring the country in line with the rest of europe.
i'm going to live in ibiza from february on ... i'm working for a german agency and we have the 9 - 5 routine in our work i think it would be better if we have a break but no doubt, we have to work every morning from 9 o clock on till the late afternoon; 5 o' clock
i can't wait to come to see my island and stay there for a long, long time! have a appartement now in d'alt vila for rent and i'm excited and happy to come back after 2 month off
Maybe you can help. I am planning a trip to Ibiza from 6th of June to the 11th. Will things be in full swing by then, or will the town and clubs still be slow? I don't want to miss out on anything .
