Just back from Ibiza, Es Cana!

Well we got back on Saturday night after a two week visit to Ibiza, staying in Es Cana.
To be honest, we were not that impressed with our accommodation. We found the Mar Y Huerta to be VERY basic and but clean. Our view looked over the car park at the back, on the 1st floor, so we didn't even have much height. The bath didn't drain properly and the toilet smelled but we put that down to Spains poor sewerage system. Excuse the opening whinge!
All this aside we had an amazing time. Travelled with Thomas Cook who were exceptionally helpful and courteous. Very impressed with them.
Es Cana was a lovely town, some nice restaurants along the front. La Jacaranda was our favourite.
We hired a car for three days both weeks, from Avis. It was excellent, cause we got upgraded from a Corsa to a megane at no extra cost. It was great to get out of Es Cana and see the beautiful countryside of Ibiza. It is a fantastic island and I would recommend trips to Portinatx, Cala D'Hort, San Miguel, San Antonio (for the sunset), Ibiza.... all amazing. From Cala D' Hort you get an exceptional view of Es Vedra which is very dramatic but stunning. The road from San An to Cala D'Hort is slightly dodgy so beware!! But there are some great views on the way.
Weather was fab with two cloudy days, but it was nice to get a break from the sun.

All in all a fabulous time was had. We would love to return, but perhaps to Santa Eularia and to a self catering 3* apartment. Or if anyone can recommend somewhere lovely that would suit us....

Thanks for reading...

Glad you had a good time :D

I've never stayed in Santa Eularia or Es Cana but have you thought about booking flights and accomodation separately, I always do that and I find you get much more choice than with travel agents. I've booked thru this site before and also www.holidayrentals.com and both have places to stay all over the island.

thanks alot barbie. I will check that out for next time.

We have discussed DIYin it, so your site will come in handy. Where do you fly from and who with?

:D

Either Gatwick with Britannia or Stansted with EasyJet. I've not done a package hol for years cos you get much more choice about where you fly/where to stay etc if you do it separately, it tends to work out cheaper as well.

There's so many cheap flights out there these days if you book early enough, def worth looking into ;)

If you want self catering in Santa Eulalia, try the can sanso apts, they are nice, i mainly remember hotels in santa eulalia though, if you wanna splash out try the Grupotel santa eulalia.

I can confirm that Can Sanso in Santa Eularia is a nice place to stay. I am going there in September 06. Although I have not stayed there before (only when kipping over night while friends stay there  ) they are nice clean and spacious apartments - it can be family orientated at time though :?

Got bored with San An so decided to go to the east coast this time. I always visit SA when I am in Ibiza - it has a great atmosphere about it - its so relaxed and quite different from other resorts.

Also there is bus/taxi/boats to Ibiza town 8)

Hey,

Glad u had a good time!

I booked my flights for June, and accommodation seperate, and it worked out cheaper, and easier!

Only thing is.. don't forget bout holiday insurance yeh!!

M.

I usually DIY it myself, holiday insurance i normally get is thru Insure&go, web based site, 1 weeks insurance £8.60. bargin i think.

Hi Funky, glad you had a great time. Me and the family are off to Es Cana in about 3 weeks - was the Hertz place in Es Cana, and how much was the car, if you don't mind me asking?

we actually hired through AVIS which is kind of on the main strip as you go round the corner from the beach, a little up the hill on the right hand side (lovely air conditioned office, coulda stayed there all day hehe). Bonus was, we ordered a corsa twice but got upgraded to a Megane or a people carrier type thing.. which was pretty good value for money.

Not sure about Hertz though. sorry.

Hope you have a BRILLIANT time. We are heading to Portinatx on the 22nd July for 2 weeks this year. Really can't wait. Let me know how you get on.

Avis/Hertz, doesn't matter. Just fancy renting a car. We didn't really think about it at the time of booking our holiday, but as it's drawn nearer the idea has got into our heads.

Cheers for the wishes, and I'll be sure to let you know what it was like. I can't wait, and it's still over 3 weeks away.
