Could be really worth a visit or not?

I heard Juniors Dates in Europe are veryy rare because he is so scared of flying and his sets in NYC are really really legendary. Was he in Ibiza before?

What do you think?

Privilege opens doors at 11pm, until 12pm they have free entry with a wristband i got yesterday at bora Bora.

I dunno... I saw him in Miami in January and wasn't impressed. It was all heavy tribal and got really boring after a while.

i saw him in nyc a coupla years back. awesome

i was the only straight in the villiage that night ;)

Same at that party in Miami - me and the missus were the only straight people  I've never seen so many guys primping and posing... the Miami gay scene is definitely more testosterone-filled than the gay clubs I've been to in DC, Boston and overseas.

I saw him in NYC at Spirit and he's officially the worst dj I've ever had the displeasure of hearing in my life.

...

I'm sure he's had better days than that but this was a special one off night and it was apparent that he wasn't even trying.
The style of music was watered down trancey cheese (so called Sound Factory 'anthems' but I'm a huge old skool fan and these sounded terrible).
Nothing redeeming about his set at all, no highlights*, no nothing.

* Unless you count the easily pleased Junior disciples on the dance floor shouting, "GET YER ASS ON THOSE DECKS JUNIOR!" - was great comedy value.

He rates as one of those DJ's which I'd loooove to see, merely because I think he has a very unique "big room" sound and he's well lauded in certain circles (i.e. see what all the fuss is about). And his sets abroad are, as already said, quite rare.

Not that I think he'll be any good though (if that makes sense).

All his remixes I hear are twelve minute long "normal" (i.e. pop) mixes with thick tribal drums and faint vocals.

I heard he's well known to play an 8 beat sample, with no effects of change, for 15 minutes or so.

Hmmm

I've heard the style he plays called 'pots and pans' before because it's not supposed to be uplifting in any way.

First time I came across this guy was when I was about 10 years old and he'd remixed some track on an atrocious single I'd bought (McSar and the Real McCoy - 'run away' I think????  ) and he didn't impress me then... lol!

Junior Vasquez is unpredictable, he might be genious and he might be a disaster. I heard Junior play twice this year (once in Rio for Carnaval - February, and another time three weeks ago in Rio as well), the first time he was okay nothing special, but three weeks ago he was incredible.

He did play a lot of tribal house, but that's what people in Rio (specially on the gay scene) like the most. He played in Sao Paulo in May and it was also a disaster, people were leaving the party at 5 a.m., at 6 a.m. there wasn't anyone there anymore (and he was producing the party himself).

Anyway, JV is a myth, so if you have the chance, go there and stay a while and see if you like. Than you can get your own opinion and share it with us.

Saw him many years ago at Cream (Liverpool) queued for a ridiculous time to get in, even longer than we used to for Oaky.

Vasquez was a load of rubbish, he got booed numerous times, especially during his 3 minute "breakdowns" that you could have mistaken for the power having gone off!

Verdict: Bobbins. Don't bother.

Disclaimer: However, i guess its good to say you've seen him! Then you can make your own mind up :D
