pesky little see through floundery pinky stingy anoying little creatures!!!

any one seen any as yet|? i here they are paying extra to have them removed!!

None around Es Cana or S'Argamassa last week but that's probably because the water was so bl##dy cold - no doubt there will be plenty in June / July / August - according to TV a couple of months ago there will be a plague throughout the world this year!

should be the same as last year, which means not like 2 years ago when i got stung 4 times in within 6 days...didnt go back in the water this last summer.... just becareful!

Are these the sort of jelly fish that are more of an annoyance or is it a sort of sting that hurts. I get loads up here in Norway when I'm surfing during the summer and they are not that bad to make you get out of the water. However I do have a full wetsuit on so its only hands and face that get stung. If its the "portugese man of war" then you really have to get out of the water quick!!.

Saw a few dead at Pou des Leo yesterday, didn`t see any live from there down to Santa Eulailia or over by Togamago,
I wouldn`t jump into the middle of a load of them on purpose, But a few around does not stop me getting in the water, Might effect different people in a different way, but it just feels like a UK nettle sting that last`s longer to me ?

Have a good one
Tim

There were loads at Calla San Vincente last year....I remember us all dropping our stuff down and running into the water, only to suddenly realize we were literally the only ones in the water on the whole beach...there were hundreds of them....we got out in the same fashion we got in!

Taken from this weeks IBIZA SUN local paper http://theibizasun.com/ so looks like we will all be safe

Fishermen in the Balearics claimed last week they were ready to help out the Govern and collect jellyfish from the waters close to all four of the islands. A spokesman for the association said they were now prepared to assist in the task because it was beneficial to them. This follows last year's refusal to help, claiming the process was not compatible with their fishing techniques. However, they have made a sharp U-turn and will hopefully begin work in June. A source at the ministry for the environment said they would pay a fixed fee of 600 euros per day for every vessel which took part in the cleaning process, as well as €1.50 per kilo of jellyfish.

am I the only one to have had no ncounters with these things yet?
Touch wood i don't this season now! lol
