right.

our domain is being used by spammers to send their crap. so bad that our IP address has been blacklisted by one of our clients.

Seeing that everyone here is so clued up about most things, how the hell can i stop this!

Our mail runs through our G5 Xserve Running MacOSX 10.3 - but ive looked on there and cant find anywhere which i can solve this prob.

will be calling our provider now... but if anyone in the know can help. please do!

Use a 3rd party email AV service provider who will register your domain and your IP.

Message Labs, Blackspider, Mimecast, Postini, etc

just had this sorted.

things mentioned were SPF, IP addresses and domains.

no idea what any of this means, but gist is, our domain can only be used when using our ISPs IP address.

I had this nightmare a couple of years ago, my domain hosting people were next to useless.

Junk & spam email are a blight of the internet. Does anyone actually ever respond to a link / advert in junk email?

Jail the culprits imo.

i didnt use the wizard thing, as our ISP said they can sort it their end.

ive already set up blacklists on our mail server which has helped to reduce the daily flow of spam, as well as adding all legit contacts into the address book of each machine, and enabling the junk filter.

responding to them emails will only let them know, that email is a valid one.
 
Dunno if you've ever tried this one Chewie.

I use Mailwasher 5.0 and can "bounce" spam back. I once got plagued with the Viagra ads, etc. Had me almost paranoid! 8O Not! :lol: After "bouncing" for around a month the ads stopped. The principle of the program is that you can see your emails on the server before downloading to your computer. Dodgy stuff you "bounce" back to the source and they think your email doesn't exist.

well thats no bloosy use for me :lol:


anyway, i think we'll always get spam. the blacklists we created seem to stem the flow a bit, its the spoofing thats causing the biggest headache, hopefully the spf thing will work well.
