The people responsible for this need to have a word with themselves....I hope I don't ever have the displeasure of hearing it! Why do they always do this? infact forget that I know why they always do this.... Money talks as they say. I've donned my black armband as a mark of respect. :(

How does it ruin the original?

Have all the copies of the "dub" been burnt?

Well for me it ruins it cause people comes up to you 1 year after you heard it first and say: "man, have you head that new tune Discopolis, it's great!".

Then they play it 3547543743 times on the radio and you get so fu(king sick of it that you never want to hear it again and basically want to burn your 12" version.

That's how it ruins it.

So you'd normally still be playing it in a year, then?

Has it not been played to death already?

People should face it, that this is natural progression for any tune that reaches a particular popularity.

Here's the deal (IMO).

If it's not TOO overplayed (read radio etc.) I think it's ok to hear it again in a year or two.

Ie. I still enjoy Martin Solveig - Rocking music, but I'm not too keen on Eric Prydz - Call on me anymore.

I guess it all comes down to ppls personal opinion.

Wow, I guess musical busniness sense is really lacking on this board. When a label releases an instrumental tune and then re-releases a vocal mix some months/years later, it's basically to drive for more sales. You guys may be loyal fans and clubbers, but to others this is a business.

Anything that gets picked for radio play usually tends to make a label a lot more money. Ideally, more exposure/publicity = more money for the artist and label. The more mainstream market tends to actually BUYYYY records and singles as opposed to downloading them on their favorite file sharing programs. So when a tune gets hammered on the radio, it's a good thing.

Ehr... what do we look like we're 12? :D

Of course we understand WHY they do it (DOUGH) - but not WHY in the artistic sense.

You've already answered your own question. Underground tunes do not pay the bills.

This vocalversion of 'Discopolis' is NOT official - it's a bootleg. There are no plans to deliver a vocal version of the track at this stage.

Well, that's the reason why I'm not a producer ;)

I think we actually agree and understand eachother quite well. :D

Unless your Mr A List DJ which I don't think any of us are on here then why wouldn't we still be playing it in a year? It's a great tune (the original I add) to say you wouldn't be playing it a year on sounds just a tad pretentious!
