Hello so basically I have enquired about a apartment in West San Antonio which is owned by ibiza workers accommodation. Im happy with the rent and everything it's just that they want me to transfer €400 before may as a deposit even though I'm going in September? Also I have to sign a legal agreement as it is not a holiday let? Can anyone help me understand the process and explain if this is a legitimate deal?

My motto in life has always been never ever pay money upfront to people that you don't know and certainly not over the Internet.

It is normal to ask for 1 month upfront when doing rentals or long term let. However any reasonable landlord wouldn't ask without seeing you.

No landlord wants anybody renting apartments without knowing that the person is respectable. Therefore most would want to interview you in person.

As you will be looking to rent propert from September onwards then I am sure you will have the advantage of being in very much demand for renting. As a lot of property will be vacant over the winter period they would be jumping to get you onboard.

Therefore I would say don't jump on this. Seems too fishy and if your gut reaction is then it probably is too.

I think its reasonable to voice your concerns to the vendor and see what they come back with. They are clamping down big time on illegal holiday rentals so I wouldnt worry about signing a contract which proves otherwise

Don't do it, there has been a lot of scams regarding this matter.

would you fork out 400 euro upfront.without even seeing the place.scam keep away.unless you can get other info.try asking him for references, what the place called.look up on net see if they are paying tax.ask him his or her full name.log on to spanish council office in ibiza.see if he is ok.you can do it in uk.might work for ibiza.keep looking best bet.even then how do you know next one is not right.splash out on a hostel.

Ibiza workers accommodation is a legit group that sort out places for workers. My mates have used them for the last 2 years.

Everywhere you will find will expect a months rent + months rent as a deposit, upfront to secure a bed/room.

Yes I agree on 2 considerations.

1 - the people proporting to be from this group are Infact the people they say they are. Easy to peg off a legitimate group to run a scam

2 - As I mentioned before it is common place to ask for deposit and some cases 1 month rent upfront. As a previous landlord that is what I did.

However never without meeting person, the property etc

I don't think you will have any problem funding places to rent for the time your going. Therefore no point taking any risks.

Yea at that time in the season a lot of people are looking for people to stay in their place as friends have gone home and still need to pay rent.

Good so would it be safe to say that if I was to go over there and book a hotel for the first week i should be able to find accomidation?
