Iraq tour nearly over...

We met up with a US marine (who uses this forum) and he was getting a load of trouble off English guys in San An. They threatened him with knives etc so bad he could not stay in his apartment. They said he was a murderer and baby killer just because he was a US marine.
Way over the top. Our troops are there too.

...i am serving in the British Army doing my duty , people can disagree with that and change it at polling time . For our part we genuinely limit casualities but i understand the Yanks are getting a bad rep...that NO excuse for bullying a lad on downtime....sights you wanna forget are commonplace everyday out here and its more important now than ever to go to Ibiza and places like it to regain your sense of normality and celebrate living thru it.....rant over

One of my neighbours tried to kill himself 3 months ago, his wife found him, and this stems from him being a soldier out there in 1991 - I cant imagine what he saw during his time there and I know he has suffered badly over the last few years but with seeing what's gone on through TV footage etc..... he had started to have nightmares and flashbacks.
He is only just starting to put his life into a more positive frame, through counselling and taking time out for his family trying to basically put his life back in order and take stock of the positive things he has - he says every day is a struggle and somedays he cant find things to celebrate in his day to day existence... I really feel for him....

Whats up everyone!! Im the American that yall are talking about. haha I just got back to Iraq and yea I got loads of hell for being in Iraq and being American while there. I went there to get away from war and found another one when I got there. Overall the trip was great and met some quality people. Im actually a civilian contractor not a marine though I do work with the marines and Army also britsh Army and royal Air Force on occasion. It didnt ruin my trip but I thought Ibiza was way different. I didnt even get to stay in the hotel I paid 2100USD to stay at which sucked. but I met great people that hooked me up (spotlight members). The ****ty thing is I didnt get any money back even after bitching. Ohh well its in the past. Ill be back next year for another break from the hell hole we call taji Iraq.

he had booked in a hotel in san antonio, and was threatened and harrassed by groups of drunken racist idiots. so had to leave the hotel... but speedy and the spotlight gang took him under their wing and he had a great time in the bay with friendly people..

nah man I had a group of young English dudes whi apparently hated me because 1. the girls in the hotel liked me and Im American and 2. I work in Iraq. I was like COME ON!!! I didnt even try to get with there girls at all, I bought a girl a drink because she was just standing at the bar and I bought like 5 peoples drinks. I was drunk and feeling nice. I even bought guys drinks and Im deff not gay. It was some dudes girl I guess but she let me buy her a drink....... anyways they already hated me and yelled baby killer, tried to fight me and even brought some knives out. I tried to fight them even 4 on 1, but next thing I know there where about 30. Security at my hotel did nothing at all, and so I packed my **** and stayed with other people. Rediculas I swear. I did nothing to these people at all, in fact most the people in the hotel where awesome and I missed the **** out of partying with them, but the small group that hated me pretty much ran me out. I wanted to enjoy the rest of my vacation so I crash on couches and floors instead of my big ass expensive bed. Over all my vacation rocked.
LOVE YOU TOOOO SUE!!! YALL TRULY SAVED MY VACATION AND I LEFT WITH A SMILE. Im actually heading to England on my next R&R hahaha Im not saying who Im staying with but its someones cute blonde cousin, hahaha you may know who Im talking about sue, she was with the chezzie lads

yea dude, its ok really. The US has the same type of people you know. **** it. I have actually heard great things about Playa en Bossa so I may check that out for next year. I have no regrets really. Great trip, just one group was there for the wrong reason.
i like the irony here. i still remember the disgraceful attitude shown to toldtrueguy and his mates back in april on this very forum. it's a pity you weren't all diving in, shaking your heads and tut-tutting then!

yea that is funny and should have been my first sign I would have a lil trouble. Im just glad there where people like the chezzie lads, Speed, Sue, Sexy emma, night clubber and the other emma to save my holiday.
Have a great vacation man, I know how it is getting away from Iraq for just a couple of weeks. You feel like a while new person, I know Im already back over here.
