Ipod help please?

I currently have an Ipod Nano - not ventured into the Ipod field before so this question might be something really easy but its not to me :)

All I want to know is how to delete stuff from my playlist as there is stuff on there that is corrupted so doesnt even play and then there is a lot of doubles of things where they seem to have gone on twice.

Basically my songlists are in a right old mess and I want it all in the correct places! How do I do this?

Someone told me that I can do it manually on the actual Ipod? But so far that hasnt worked for me....

If you mean the normal 'music' on your ipod...

Open your i-tunes and tidy it up i.e delete anything you dont want, then connect your i-pod and it will sync.

If you mean a 'playlist'...

You can make a new 'on the go' playlist on the ipod but to edit or delete a playlist you have to do it on your i-tunes then it will sync when you connect the ipod.

I think.

I tried last time deleting stuff off the main list and removing it then doing what you said and plugging my Ipod in hoping it would match up and delete what was meant to be deleted but it didnt :?

before you even start to upload tunes to your ipod, open iTunes and goto preferences and UNCHECK the box that says "copy all music to itunes folder". - also set pref to organise library - this will enable itunes to organise your music by placing that track file into the album name folder/artist name folder. (so basically whatever you type in or CDDB puts into the Album/Artist fields on the id3 tags).

;)

also an idea to manually choose what playlists you want to add onto the pod. the default setting will copy ALL PLAYLISTS onto your pod.

the music will be on your pod, but is hidden, the important thing is the music on your computer.

its not confusing at all!

1. COPY ALL MUSIC INTO ONE BIG FOLDER
2. uncheck the copy music to itunes button.
3. turn on "let itunes organise music"
4. Drag all your tracks into the library, and go through them all making sure the artist & Album parts are correct (if you select all the tracks from one album you can change the id3 tags for all of them in one go).
5. once youve sorted yr library, make new playlists and drag the tracks from your library to your playlist.
6. change prefs to let you decide what playlists to upload.... upload to ipod and go! 8)
