Inter Europe Rail Thing

Hello, I have a dillema.

My girlfriend has seen the world basically, I have not. I cannot get her to agree to go to any countries where she has been before, which rules the majority of the globe out frankly, and particulalry anywhere I would want to go.

We are planning to go to Syria on holiday as this is one of the few places she wants to go to that she has not been to8O.

So, I am considering taking two weeks off and getting an inter rail card & doing europe next year. I have never been to italy, eastern europe, germany for instance & I need to go, certainly before I have kids.

But she will not do this as she has been to these places before.

Prob is, most of my mates are partnered off & would not do it, so its prob on my billy todd. Has anyone here done this before - will I enjoy it? Or will I just feel lonley & miss the missus?

any tips greatly appreciated!

Sometimes, solitude is a wonderful thing.

You're sure to meet people along the way, and being alone gives you freedom to set your own schedule and go to the places that interest you.

I say just do it!

The missus and I usually vacation together but there have been times when a) I couldn't take more time off and she wanted to go to the beach or b) I needed to make a short run to any Russian embassy to renew my visa. Thus, she's been to Cyprus and Greece, and I've seen Berlin and Riga.

The only downside is not being able to share the memories...
