INDIE ROCK 'N' ROLL

Death to indie. Indie is the new Nu-Metal. It was arena rock, then hair metal, then alternative, then Nu-metal, now it's indie. Give it 4-5 years, it will be gone.

Ditto, like Razorlight and Kasabian too. Heading to T in the Park this year which, as always, has a fantastic line-up. :D

Indeed! Can't wait to catch Sons & Daughters again, along with Interpol and Super Furry Animals.

spiritualized have a new album out this autumn....

i was an indie kid in my misguided youth, and still love radiohead, verve, stone roses, primals, et al but the whole nu-britpop movement leaves me cold. apart from the killers, who are kinda fun, i think the bravery, kasabian, bloc party et al are a load of boring, derivative toss. [/twopence]

I may be reading you wrong, but The Killers and The Bravery aren't British. ;) Anyway, as bands, I can hardly tell the difference between the two - that sort of indie/ disco thing with disinterested vocals. Zzzz. (Having said that, there's a cool dance mix of one of The Killers' tunes.) I was cynical about Bloc Party at first, but the album is really addictive. Think it's the drumming that makes it! Other than that, I agree with you. ;) Ta for letting us know about the Spiritualized album - where'd you hear about that? If we can only get another on par with Ladies and gentlemen... :D

I could never get on with Jeff Buckley. Women always seem to stick his stuff on after sex (which can be weird  ).

Dual-life - 'indie' has been around for... well, ages. It's a sort of meaningless term, anyway. For example, you could describe bands like Joy Division and The Smiths as indie! Half the stuff one might call indie these days will be signed to major labels.

yeah im into my indie music. its nice to have a change from time to time. i went into that bar in san an a couple of times when workin over there. not too keen on the atmosphere or people in there, jus used to go in ask them to play my fave song, at the time it was, 'bandages' danced my arse off to it then left! must of looked strange! i really like it when music that you dont expect to come on in any of the big dance clubs comes on and everyone loves it ang goes mad. thats cool. really picks me up. ;) :D

I've tried. I dunno, it's too flowery or something. His dad, Tim, did write one of the best songs ever, "Song to the Siren" - the best version of which is done by This Mortal Coil.

Ground Zero is the ONLY rock and indie club in San Antonio. Founded in 1981 this club was called 'Hard Rock Cafe' from 1991 - 1998 it was called 'The Rock' and in 1998 it chenged it's name to 'GROUNDZERO' The club has changed name, but still has kept it's same friendly atmosphere and music policy

Into indie as much as dance music really.

Kasabian are one of my favourite bands around at the minute, but bloc party, kaiser chiefs, franz ferdinand, hard-fi, elbow, dead 60's etc etc etc are all good bands too.
