As a veteran of the US Army I would like to know how you came up with this conclusion. Seems a bit biased to me. What knowledge do you have about the lack of discipline in the US Army aside from the rubbish you see on television? I'm not disputing your assertion as I don't know much about you limeys...but I think you are shortsighted on the professionalism of our forces.

I worked alongside many American soldiers during the time I was in the army- it's a first hand observation. Their personal training is amazing- the soldiers I met were fine physical specimens, but their attitudes to other soldiers (including their own officers) was lacking, especially if they were asked/ordered to do something they didn't like.

Okay, so you made a bold assertion based on a handful of American Soldiers you worked with....okay...works for me.

Not just a handful- it was a prevailing attitude. And by the way, I didn't say they were ill-disciplined, I said they weren't as disciplined as us. So don't be so touchy.

Prevailing attitude of what you witnessed doesn't necessarily equate to prevailing attitude of the entire US Forces. For one thing, what type of units did you come into contact with? Were you with some lowly support units or did you spend time with Infantry grunts, paratroopers or other professional soldiers? My personal feeling is that up until recently we raised the bar on the level of recruit we even allow into the military and we have the best training and equipment in the world.

Like I said, I'm not going to dispute your claim as I'm not an expert on other militaries, but I do think you're making quite a bold statement based on subjective opinion not factual evidence.

Nuff said....

And i thought the U.S and G.B got along fine!!! Food for thought......... The elite fighting force in the world is as we all know the S.A.S.. but the majority of its small amount of members are from Australia and New Zealand! As long as we all kick terrorism in the teeth does it matter who kicks ass!! ;)

Another bold assertion.

The Republic of Korean has some damn elite fighting forces as do many other countries. For a peace loving Ibiza message board there sure are a lot of military experts here.

I don't even know why I bothered getting into this. After all, with his vast military experience and all encompassing knowledge Rick must be right, just as everyone knows that the USA is the best in the world at everything right?
