in a state of trance - reflections of Armin van Buuren's 7hr set last night

A very early start – can’t remember when I went to an Ibiza club so early – got in at 10 past 12 and was amongst the first ones on the (main) dancefloor. Armin was already playing some proggy beats and 5mins later, he dropped the first flyaway-melody. But still, downtempo and easy. People arrived (a mixed bunch of young guns and die-hards) and everyone seemed SO ready for a night in a state of trance. Armin picked up “reasons to forgive”, dropped booka shade’s “in white rooms” as well as gregor tresher’s “a thousand nights”. So, until about 1:30 he changed between tekhouse, floaty laidback trancey stuff and proggy tracks. And from then on, it was pure trance bliss for the rest of the night…he played stuff like “light the skies” and “your loving arms”. By 2:30 the mainfloor was nicely busy, but never as packed as with cream. I loved it, brilliant music, great vibe, still room to dance – and the ice-cannon was in use as well! As the night proceeded, armin also dropped some electroey stuff and got a good bit harder at around 4am – but still, it was trancey and very much enjoyable. And everyone loved it when he dropped southern sun in the early morning hours. It all came to an abrupt end at 6:45 – everyone was like “what, already almost 7am? Impossible! C’mon, get back to the decks armin”…

Conclusion – all I can say is that this was definitely one of my best ever trance music nights in Ibiza (and I’ve seen quite a lot). So, if you love trance then you deffo should give armada a try!

Sounded like one hell of a night, when i was in ibiza back in july, me n my mates planned to go to Armada(what would of been the opening) but as everyone knows amnesia was still shut. That would have been a 7 hour set aswell, never mind theres always next year.
p.s- we did get to go to cream opening tho later that week..

That just made me so pumped to go! I love Armin and can't wait for that night. I'm glad to hear it wasn't too crowded, I need my space to dance. Not like at PVD where it is almost unbareable. I love trance!! :D

Great to read all the positive comments. I'll be there for the Armada closing party and I'm really looking forward to seeing AVB again. Does anyone know when he's likely to come on and how long a set he'll play? I'm no spring chicken anymore so I have limited endurance

I really wanted to go to that night but had an early flight the following day. Heard it was an excellent night though.:D

I also gave Cox night a miss for Armada and i ain't regreting it at all!

Armada sure pulls in the crouds, but in a sensible way, and the atmosphere + music are great!

You go Armin! 8)
