"If drugs were legal" on BBC2 last night

I missed it .. I was fast asleep, thanks to the aid of legal drugs ! :D

I missed it........had the more important matter of Chelsea v Man U to watch.

Sorry Andy, we're not really adding much to your discussion are we ;)

The programme gave me more food for thought than answers. It was a bit silly at times with the baddies dressed in black etc, and that woman detective was the worst actress i have ever seen in a long time. Wooden as my false leg.

But what i did draw from it:

(1) government regulated heroin (free and used only on the premises of the clinic ) appears to be a good idea.
As a huge proportion of crime - especially robbery and burgalry in the UK is caused by heroin addicts simply forced to feed their habits. If it was given to addicts by the government then it would be safer and eradicate (or greatly reduce) associated problems. This would benefit society immensly, in theory.

I don't believe legalising anything else (including dope) would be a good idea. It would be no safer in the hands of large private sector companies than in the hands of criminals. As you simply subsitute better quality, safer drugs, with hugely increased availability.

As i don't personally believe, call me a hypocrite, that having drugs easily available to all, is good for society.

You hypocrite!

I personally don't think it would be a good to legalise drugs, not only for reasons of morality, but also because making them 'safer' does not make them 'safe'.

It's a very difficult issue to address with no positive outcome either way.

I was surprised to see how the 'drama' put hard and recreational drugs into the same situations though :?:

Hey, don't hijack my thread

Legalise Drugs will make the content safer, but you'll still get the Stupid idiots who'll "neck 10 at once" cos they think its both funny, clever and will impress their mates.

wouldnt be a bad thing to legalise i suppose, would mean the above would kill emselves, and make society a much pleasant land.

;)

I was looking forward to this but thought it was poorly made and as Mark said the acting wasn't up to much.

The message... well i think that got through. As a recreational user I don't think Class A's should be legalised.

Even if you could get E's for example legally the quality is likely to be poor and unsatisfying so the illegal trade will still go on. And there's likely to be a whole load of problems that don't even exist at the moment like chavs on street corners/benches of their faces etc.

Sitting chatting about the prog with two mates, both 'recreational' users we considered the fact it might not be so fun if it was legal!

And Club Supreme looked pants, not hurrying to get there now

Not sure that's true...who drinks illegally produced moonshine :? ...legalisation will improve safety and quality... :D

So faced with a choice of government issue pill which never quite gets you there or the current illegal equivalent you'd...
