Ice Cannons In Amnesia ?

Hi - odd question this one but a serious query.

My wife suffers quite badly from asthma and is concerned that the Ice Cannons in Amnesia may cause a reaction with her condition.

I on the other hand can't wait to get to Coccoon !!

Apparently smoke machines and her lungs do not mix too well and I know these are not quite the same but she is worried about the icy blasts.

Anybody any experience ?
 
The ice cannon doesn't actually affect the wholw room so I wouldn't worry. I would worry more about clostraphobia and the heat. I'm speaking from experience of Cream though!! 8O

I have always found the canons to be a pleasent experience but like StevieG says thay you don't have to be near them if they are a problem :roll:

I don't think it's the stuff they use in normal smoke machines. It's more like dry ice because it's cold on impact but you can easily avoid them
 
It's not a smoke machine actually. I'd even tell you that I'm sure it cleans out the atmosphere of smoke and heat. So it's probably beneficial.
Anyway I suffer from asthma and never had problems with it. And as the people say, you can avoid it if you're not on the center.
 
They just jet out ultra-frozen air, there is no chemical in them but they might still take your breath away!!!

I wish the idea would flick a switch with manumission cos I'm fed up of dancing in my own swimming pool there year after year! Especially 2003!!
They are very refreshing and make the packedness of cream tolerable so you can still enjoy an otherwise blinding night in the main room
 
I am asthmatic, and I have found they do not affect me at all, in fact I position myself deliberately under the ice cannon - lovely!!
 
I am asthmatic too and they don't affect me at all. It's just NO2 and it makes air cool. For a while it is easier to breath.

It's nothing to be afraid. 8)
 
I had icicles in my hair last year - which amazed so many spazzed clubbers when they picking them out and goihng ooooooh they're melting!!!!
 
Apparently they were toned down a few years ago, before it used to come from the left and from the floor too (so i am told). Apparently a few clubbers got knocked over and injured so now we just get the diagonal blast from the left balcony!!

Still cool though literally!
 
it certainly cools you down for at least a few seconds.

the ice cannons make amnesia! without them it would be 'plain'
 
Once about three years ago i took a mate to amnesia for GK, and mainly for the ice cannon. But it wasnt working all night. poo. And those were the days when oakie was on at pacha and was really good on a tues and we could (should) have gone to that. :(
 
I'm not really a fan of them, or of the confetti from the ceiling. Think it's all a bit ott and Amnesia is special enough without having to use gimmicks.

Yeah you should have!! Half of my group (including me) went to Pacha on Tues and the other half went to Amnesia and had a crap time but Pacha was wicked, although Oakenphant didn't turn up so we had Tongy.
 
A word on smoke machines.

Smoke Fluid now does NOT affect asthmatics. IT used to be made from peanut oil and was banned after somone died or something because of a peanut allergy.

Normal smoke fluid should not affect asthmatics and dry ice like the machines people are on about at Amnesia will be just nitrogen and oxygen. NO2 I think, not N2O - that would be Nitorus Oxide, laughing gas and highly flammable!
