Ibiza's lovely lizards in winter (?)

Having never (unfortunately) visited Ibiza/Formentera in winter (as in Balaeric winter, aka English summer) I've often wondered if our wonderful lizards are scurrying around in the same numbers as they do in summer, or do they kind-of hibernate and aren't seen as much? I believe that larger lizards hibernate in large groups.

I would imagine that the temperatures aren't too good for them, but on the other hand the rainfall might bring more food?

The small lizard that you commonly see with a green/brown body and black spots, is the Ibiza Wall lizard. As far as I am aware this species does not hibernate but will become less active in the cooler months and will spend long periods out of view. They will only come out to hunt when their is sufficient sun to raise their bodies temperatures sufficiently which, as you suggest, will be quite often due to the clement weather conditions i the region.

I love lizards. I love Ibiza more.

I've seen a few lizards about recently. I disturbed one a few weeks ago when I took down a garden wall that it was hiding in and I also uncovered a gecko yesterday that was under a dumped door. The rest have been those that the cats brought in to play with. Not seen any sunbathing or scurrying about though.

Thanks for the informative answers ;) I hope the sun's out now and nice and warm for them to get out and get some food!
