i Won’t bore you with a day-by-day mega-monster-review this year, but as this weekend has been quite busy and eventful, here’s some reports!
Saturday
I haven’t been to matinée since the opening, so I went back there. I was in good company and also finally met fusion (hi!). Such a good Saturday daytime session, the sunset terrace (including me) went bonkers when the dj dropped rui da silva’s “touch me”. And I finally found out which dj pleased us so much at matinée opening – his name is rafa ariza and he’s really worth checking out. When I once made my way to el salon (the new floor on the right of the main terrace), I found Erick morillo there – partying VERY hard!
Sunday
OK this might sound boring…but I’ve been to space as well on Sunday. Missed all the afternoon fun, but caught the last hour on the sunset terrace when tom novy was playing (as good as almost always). Then made my way to the main terrace, where smokin’ jo had taken over. Haven’t seen her playing in ages and I must say, I was quite pleased with what I saw and heard. Ah yes, fusion was there as well (thanks for the drink mate!!!) and many beautiful women as well…was this because david guetta played after smo-jo? Maybe! Also liked guetta’s set a lot. Basically, i am sceptical about his productions (yes, they are hits, but still…) and I am always hearing different reviews about his FMIF nights at pacha (some love it, some don’t), but I’ve heard him playing at space twice so far and he’s been amazing on these two dates. I remember the first time I’ve heard him on the then very-new terrace in September 2005, where he blew us all away with jam & spoon’s stella (and more) and this set he played on Sunday was almost as good. More on the electro side soundwise, but still very very good and the crowd simply loved it. Great stuff!
Monday
I also had given DC10 a miss for a month, so time to go back there, but just for a few hours. What was special? Well, p-diddy is back on the island and was ‘avin’it in the dj booth (as he does every year, not?) and villalobos & luciano did an almost 4 hrs back to back set on the terrace in the evening hours…
