ibiza-weekend as a birthday-surprise!

well, maybe you remember my first review :?: "ibiza - once you start, it will always stay in your heart..." now this one won't be THAT long, but again, i hope you'll enjoy reading.

prologue
actually, on the above mentionned weekend i would have been busy. i am a long-distance runner and was to participate in a half-marathon. i had done mucho training for it and really wanted to run the race of my lifetime...but you know the story :D at the end, it comes always different than you planned...
natascha (remember her? we went 2 ibiza 2gether in july) had her birthday that weekend as well (actually, it was on monday, but anyway) and we planned to do something together then. but maybe you already see the difficulty...can't go running and partying at the same time. so at first i thougt we could just drive to austria or southern germany (just a few hours drive from switzerland) over the weekend as soon as i would have finished my race. but then, i spoke to a business colleague (still working in travel industry) and she asked me about how was my ibiza vacation back in july. and at exactly that point this crazy idea came up to me: just funk off that race (can do it next year and there's plenty of races throughout the yar) and go to ibiza again! of couse, natascha didn't know anything about this idea and i didn't tell her ;) so i began to organise that secret trip, was lucky because i got two almost free flights and the hotel accomodation and the car (this time HIPER AUTOS) were both easy to book.
well then, everything was ready for a 4-day-stay (thursday-sunday). on wednesday morning i finally told natascha to pack her bags and at first she was shocked, but then as happy as she could be... 8)

now here we go...

thursday, 16th september - cream closing night
met natascha at zurich airport at 3pm. she was grinning like mad because she knew only for a bit more than 24 hours that we're going to ibeeefa again...took our flight at 5pm and at 7pm we landed on ibiza. what a homecoming feeling! i know, some of you guys have been to ibiza for many many times and for us it was only our second time (second for me, third for natascha), but i really felt like coming home, everything was really familiar to me. picked up our car (got a vw polo this time, eeeeasy) and drove right to tantra bar to get tix for the cream closing party. then onwards to our hotel, again the garbi in pdb. i like this one because it's good situated and because of the mixed nationalities (defo NOT ONLY germans as some of you say). of course, i think next summer, i want to experience another hotel for once (mc rackin, what about hostal la torre?? i heard this one is stunning!?). ok, then had dinner at the hotel (fill up some carbohydrates for a long night) and got ourselves ready for cream. went to amnesia early (but short after midnight there was already a huge queue). it was a brilliant night!! i just loved it!!! gareth wyn began with some hardhouse and at 1.30am tiesto showed up. ummm, not that impressed with his set this time. had heard him the 4th thime this year and it was the worst set i ever heard of him. well, it wasn't really bad, but in a way, just an average set, he just didn't blow me away. BUT THEN...paul van dyk arrived at 4am and his set was pure euphoria!!! oh yes...(he also played an old classic...for an angel...still love this one). the party went on till 8am and then we were absolutely dead....but happy ;) so we drove back to the hotel for some morning-gymnastics  and then finally fell asleep....zzzzz.... 8)

friday, 17th september - just relax and km5
we woke up at 3pm and went for a paella-breakfast (can i say breakfast at 3pm? ) on the beach. then walked to bora bora...it was really strange to see this place as quiet as a graveyard (only disturbed by overflying planes, isn't it wimpers???). i really hope one day the groove will be back there...
later we drove to san antonio. same thing for kumharas. i love this place, but without the music, it's just not the same. god, please give'em the turntables back :x
after a short walk through the westend after sunset (10 mins in the westend does it for me) we drove to km5 for dinner. aaah, what a great place to stay! we wanted to do this already in july, but we never made it...we had an exquisite meal with some great vino tinto. no clubbing this night, was perfect just to hang out at km5 with some wine and relax.

saturday, 18th september - beaches, sunday best and bambuddha grove
got up early, had breakfast (real breakfast this time ;) ) and then we went to explore some more beaches we didn't see last time: cala jondal (nice bay, but too much pebbles for my gusto), then cala conta (superb!) and cala bassa (oh yes, we loved this one!). in mid-afternoon we drove to cala gracio and walked over to cala gracioneta, where sunday best's party was held. at that time it was still quiet so we went back to cala gracio to work on our tan...came back to the party in the evening, just before sunset. the party was perfectly set in this bay and by now i think it was cool. but at the time when we were there, we had the wrong expectations about this party...we expected it to be house and not funk. funk is not really my thing and we waited for some housy tunes (which didn't arrive...). next time i'll be better prepared and i think we can enjoy it more, because we know what it'll be like (mcrackin, you were right with one point: the pink panther tune was AMAZING!!!)
so we spontaneously decided to try bambuddha grove. drove there, got a table and had another delicious meal. both km5 and bambuddha grove are very nice...if i had to choose...ummm difficult...but at the end maybe km5 would win. again, no clubbing this night....but...sunday arrived soon...

sunday, 19th september - we definitely love space..and back home :(
got up really early, had breakfast again, packed our bags, and drove to space (with all our belongings in the car). when we arrived at space at about 9:30am, la guardia civil was there and they searched us....without finding anything (lucky us). then went in, just before 10am. what a nice way to end this short holiday...dancin' on the terrace, havin'it in the discoteca (we liked it inside in the morning), just chillin' on the sofas and talking to randoms...just one question: what happened to the line-up??? did they change their line-ups? because i think it wasn't the way they announced it on their website. early in the afternoon a woman (who???) was playing some electro stuff on the terrace (didn't like it that much) and afterwards there was a dj, which i think i knew his face..but couldn't name him...(liked much more the tunes he played). then, just before 5pm we had to leave (...so we didn't get to see tom novy, i would have loved to see him playing there :( ), because we had to drop-off our car at the airport and catch our flight back home to zurich..................

epilogue
again, we had a fantastic time. this time, it was very short, only four days, and i'm already looking forward to come back in 2005. was gutted we missed wimpers and mcrackin at sunday best and WLS (bloody me, i didn't bring my cell phone with me when i should have...). hope i'll get the chance to meet you next year!!!
...once you start, it'll stay forever in your heart...

Nice review, nostrum :D PMSL @ morning gymnastics

I see you didn't go to Defected closing which was probably a good call as the reviews weren't particularly good ;)

I'll see you again next year on the terrace same time same place .............. by the DJ booth at around 15:00!!
